Human Resources Director
Position Overview
The Human Resources Director is a hands-on, dynamic role responsible for establishing and executing human resources strategies that directly support the growth and success of the organization. In the initial phase, this position will operate as a "team of one," managing all HR functions directly, with no direct reports, and a focus on driving impactful change and delivering tangible results. The HR Director will be responsible for building a strong HR foundation, with potential to later take on leadership and strategy development as the team grows.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Planning
- Develop and implement practical HR strategies that are tightly aligned with the organization's goals and business needs
- Work closely with leadership to understand the challenges and provide actionable HR solutions
- Guide the company through early-stage organizational design and change management initiatives, ensuring alignment with core values and objectives
- Lead talent management initiatives and provide hands-on support for organizational planning
HR Operations Management
Own all HR operations from start to finish, including recruitment, employee relations, performance management, training, and complianceCreate and maintain HR policies, procedures, and programs to build a solid HR foundationManage all HR systems and tools, ensuring they are effectively utilized in day-to-day operationsOversee and manage payroll, the HR budget and resource allocation with a hands-on, strategic approachTalent Management
Take charge of recruitment and retention efforts to attract and hire the right talent for the company’s evolving needsDirect performance management and talent development processes, ensuring alignment with business prioritiesDesign and implement employee engagement and cultural initiatives to foster a positive workplace environmentHelp develop and grow future leaders through hands-on guidance and professional development programsEmployee Relations & Communication
Build and maintain effective employee relations programs, serving as the primary point of contact for employee concernsManage conflict resolution, employee grievances, and day-to-day HR issues with a direct, approachable styleCreate and lead internal communication strategies that foster transparency and engagement across all levelsBe a trusted advisor to employees and management on all HR-related mattersCompliance & Risk Management
Ensure the company’s compliance with federal, state, and local employment lawsManage workplace investigations and resolve employee relations issues swiftly and fairlyOversee safety programs and workers' compensation processes to ensure a safe and compliant work environmentProfessional Development & Training
Design and implement hands-on training and development programs that are practical and aligned with business needsLead leadership development initiatives with a focus on growing internal talentDevelop career development pathways and identify opportunities for individual growthManage performance improvement programs, coaching employees to achieve their bestQualifications
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree required, master’s degree in HR, Business Administration, or related field preferred10 years of progressive HR experience, with at least 5 years in a senior HR roleSHRM-SCP or SPHR certification preferredSkills & Competencies
Strong leadership abilities, with a hands-on, problem-solving mindsetExcellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships across all levels of the organizationDeep knowledge of HR best practices and employment law, with the ability to apply them practicallyAnalytical and strategic thinking, with a focus on resultsProven ability to drive change in a hands-on capacity, especially in a fast-paced environmentFinancial acumen and experience managing budgetsProficiency with HRIS and HR technologiesPersonal Qualities

Full-time, exempt position
May require occasional evening and weekend work
Some travel may be required
Office environment with standard business hours
Physical Requirements
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
Must be able to access various departments and locations within the facility
Ability to communicate effectively in person, via phone, and through other digital means
Reporting Relationship
Reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer
Member of the executive leadership team
Manages HR department staff
