The 2nd Shift Compounding Dept Leader coordinates daily compounding activities, manages direct reports, ensures targets are met, and maintains quality and safety standards.

This role is a core member of the continuous improvement team.

1. The leader ensures the compounding team adheres to safety guidelines and company core values.
2. The leader drives execution of daily schedules, ensuring batch targets are met and efficiency is maximized.
3. The leader sets performance goals, develops high-performing teams, and completes critical training for batch assistants and compounders.
4. The leader sets daily batching and cleaning priorities and maintains schedule adherence.
5. The leader acts as a key project team member, interfacing with R&D and Continuous Improvement teams for pilot batches, scale-up operations, and efficiency studies.
6. The leader participates in facility Lean Manufacturing operations, implementing Kaizens, RCAs, Gemba, and other continuous improvement tools.
7. The leader focuses on continuous improvement, supporting the company's Lean Manufacturing Philosophy.
8. The leader ensures all documentation is completed accurately and batching requirements are followed.
9. The leader tracks daily KPIs, provides direction to the compounding team, communicates challenges, and escalates issues appropriately.
10. The leader promotes a positive continuous improvement environment and delivers recognition.
11. The leader reviews, completes, and supports controlled documents to stay within GMP, OTC, and Hemp Authority guidelines.
12. The leader ensures daily, weekly, and monthly 5S and housekeeping standards are met.
13. The leader complies with OSHA and GMP regulations.

Create Batch:

1. Follow manufacturing instructions, record steps, and confirm raw material cut report.
2. Sign off on raw material addition.

Verify Quality of Batches:

1. Visually inspect equipment prior to use and sign off on compounding worksheet.
2. Test initial viscosity, pH, and organoleptic characteristics of finished product.

Maintenance:

1. Serve as technical support to the compounding team and escalate issues to maintenance as necessary.

Ideal Candidate Qualifications:

• Technical knowledge of compounding/manufacturing environments.
• Ability to manage floor responsibilities among team members.
• Ability to identify areas of improvement and implement CAPAs.
• Ability to maintain and modify job order schedules.
• Troubleshoot technical challenges and provide solutions in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Strong attention to detail.

Education/Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent; 2-year technical degree or bachelor's degree preferred.
• 1-2 years of leadership experience preferred.
• 3-5 years of compounding experience in cosmetic, food, pharmaceutical, or related industries.
• OTC/FDA experience preferred.
• Ability to read, write, and speak English.
• Ability to perform intermediate mathematical computations.
• Ability to operate computers and relevant inventory management scanners/systems.

Physical Demands:

• Ability to lift 50lbs and move 100lbs daily.
• Ability to work in a manufacturing environment around heavy machinery.
• Ability to stand or walk for extended periods.
• Ability to work flexible hours and weekends as business needs require.

Work Environment:

• Regularly required to work in areas where chemical materials are encountered.
• Manufacturing setting with moving machinery.
• Regularly required to wear personal protective equipment.
• May involve exposure to shop environment, including variable noise levels.
• Must customarily have a high consciousness for personal and equipment safety.

In compliance with Colorado's Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the base salary for this position generally ranges between $75,000 - $85,000 per year. This is a second shift position, working 2:30pm to 1:30am.
