What are the responsibilities and job description for the Project Accountant position at Elford, Inc?
The Project Accountant supports project teams and is the main resource for the financial condition of their assigned construction projects. Responsibilities include managing all financial activities related to construction projects, including project accounting, billing, accounts receivable, accounts payable/subcontractor payments, compliance, and cost forecast support. The role calls for attention to detail and strong communication skills with project managers, subcontractor partners, and owners.
This role is exempt and is in-person full-time at Elford’s office (1220 Dublin Rd.).
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with Project Managers to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, revenue recognition, and project billing
- Prepare accurate billings to Owners in accordance with contract terms with all required backup
- Review and oversee the monthly draw process for AIA subcontractor invoices, proactively working with others to any resolve issues
- Reconcile job costs, change orders, payables, and receivable transactions to maintain a thorough understanding of the financial condition of the job
- Assist Project Managers in performing project start-up, close-out, and internal interim audits throughout the life cycle of projects
- Enforce and manage all contractual compliances required per job, and proactively work with subcontractors and sub-tiers to collect and maintain necessary documents
- Assist with monthly job financial forecasts and operational reporting for assigned projects
- Perform other tasks or special projects as assigned
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- Qualified candidates should possess a minimum of 2 years in a construction accounting or financial reporting role
- College degree, Associate or Bachelors, is preferred. High School diploma required.
