Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Study our Elgin and Vactor products including how we leverage our own internal engineering laboratory to validate, refine, or generate new design targets. Work with lab engineering staff to interface with our equipment and use data acquisition tools to accurately model duty cycles and real time energy consumption. With the global push towards zero emissions powertrains, product efficiency is under more study than ever. This role will put you in direct contact with how companies are using data acquisition to better understand how their equipment is used and come up with data-backed insights to govern future concept development.

• Collaboration with our Elgin ESG lab engineering team and technology development group learning about tools and techniques of data acquisition
• Studying machine documentation to understand hydraulic, electrical and mechanical functionality
• Ability to tie in to both the chassis vehicle CAN bus and our own equipment CAN bus using data acquisition equipment
• Visiting with customers to install data acquisition kits and periodically study the data being generated
• Statistical analysis of machine generated data to provide representative duty cycles of our systems.
  
  

Position Requirements

• Completed two years of study towards a Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering field.
• Good written and oral communication skills.
• Willingness to do some travel to visit with our municipal customers and assist in installing equipment.
• Ability to run statistical calculations and perform analysis on raw data samples.
• Ability to demonstrate and maintain a high level of professionalism.
• Ability to exercise good judgment and make decisions in a logical and rational manner; demonstrate “common sense”, practical approaches.
• Ability to gather facts, analyze problems in depth and break down into components.
• Ability to demonstrate an outgoing, enthusiastic and positive attitude that establishes collaborative relationships with peers and allows adaptation to and operation in a fast-paced, changing environment.
• Computer proficient with solid knowledge of MS office product suite.
