Role Overview
The Workforce Productivity Services (WPS) team is looking for a Manager – Cellular Operations and 5G Deployment with expertise in cellular carrier management, billing and user experience optimization, and progressive 5G in-building cellular strategy and implementation. This role sits within the Mac/Mobility/Cellular subteam, so willingness to grow and contribute more broadly is imperative to success. You will contribute to and lead projects addressing three key business themes: enhancing user experience, ensuring operational stability, and supporting the global adoption of best-in-class technology at Lilly.
Within this role, you will partner regularly with both internal and external colleagues to ensure cellular connectivity exists in the best possible form wherever our end users choose to work, ensuring a seamless user experience. You will engage frequently with cellular providers to ensure best practices are being followed internally at Lilly, bringing the outside influence in and strive for robust 24x7 operations.
From a strategic standpoint, you will collaborate extensively with peers within WPS, Enterprise Network Connectivity, and Cybersecurity to support the evolution of our 5G in-building vision and the adoption of private cellular. Your work will involve partnering with business areas such as manufacturing and research labs to ideate and implement solutions that leverage this new infrastructure, ultimately enhancing the quality, agility, and speed of medicine development and production for patients.

Actual compensation will depend on a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic location. The anticipated wage for this position is
$63,750 - $145,200
Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual performance). How You’ll Succeed
- You will demonstrate your delivery capabilities by contributing to our global implementation of 5G in-building cellular solutions, ensuring reliable coverage. Utilizing your interest in technology and enthusiasm for driving change, you will apply your strategic skills, business relationship management, and business case development by collaborating across the business (including manufacturing and research labs) to identify and deliver innovative use cases that benefit from private wireless networks.
- You will play a pivotal role in the management and optimization of cellular carrier services to ensure seamless connectivity and cost efficiency.
- Manage day to day interactions with cellular providers and contribute to ongoing supplier governance. Provide critical expertise into service direction.
- You will maintain an unwavering emphasis on enhancing the digital user experience and boosting end-user productivity, transitioning technology from being a mere enabler to becoming the main driver of productivity for our workforce. This will cover from device request through to lifecycle/retirement.
- Identify and drive opportunities to harmonize global processes, eliminating redundancy and automating outcomes where possible.
- Your approach will demonstrate your passion for leveraging data trends to help determine appropriate best next steps.
- You will lend your unique expertise to a diverse, driven, and successful team
- Technical understanding of the benefit of 5G technology, ideally with practical experience.
- Expertise of enterprise network design and qualification and/or experience with side-by-side integration of legacy networks with Private Wireless Networking and Mobile Edge Computing would be hugely beneficial.
- Experience of successfully coordinating External Service Provider (ESP) engagements
- Demonstrated capability of managing and supporting global solution portfolios, including proven track record of high quality, user focused, on-time solution delivery.
- Experience with mobile device management concepts and platforms, along with experience with iOS and preferably with MacOS.
- Demonstrated ability to assess customer/client needs, creatively approach solutions, decide and influence appropriate courses of action.
- Experience at directing action to solve complex issues both in product and operational support settings; experience with supporting critical 24x7 operations such as manufacturing is a plus.
- Excellent analytical, problem solving and communication skills, working across agile and diverse teams.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related technical field
- High School Diploma/GED with 3 years of experience as an IT professional
- 3 years experience in large enterprise cellular management
