Main Responsibilities:
- Reusable Packaging Platform Lead – Provide engineering support for packaging equipment and materials (as it relates to primary, secondary, and tertiary packaging), including:
- Supporting product launches – provide engineering support for the delivery of new packaging lines and commercialization of new products
- Identification, evaluation, and assessment of new technologies for thermoformed and injection molded packaging
- Implementation of packaging best practices and/or packaging functional standards that enable global replication of processes, equipment, and systems
- Continuous improvement initiatives
- Sustainability exploration and contributing towards Lilly corporate goals
- Capital Project Support – Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Material Management and/or Process Engineering roles on major capital projects
- Knowledge Sharing – Provide ongoing technical support to packaging site engineering groups globally. Provide formal and informal mentoring
- Global Technical Support - Provide packaging technical support to all Lilly packaging operations with respect to materials, equipment and processes on an as needed basis
- Consultation – Assist packaging sites globally with technical evaluation, technology assessments, and specific problem resolution, including troubleshooting and root cause analysis. Assist in technical assessments of packaging operations (Lilly and alliance partners) and packaging material suppliers. Provide consultation in support of capital projects involving packaging equipment and/or facilities.
- Explore opportunities for reusable material packaging options and sustainable solutions
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s in Engineering, preferably Packaging Engineering
- 1-2 years of experience in packaging. This could include packaging development, packaging specifications, asset delivery/Commissioning & Qualification processes, product/package stability, and packaging components. (Internship and Co-Op experience applicable)
Additional Skills/ Preferences
- Familiarity with technology advances in packaging
- Capable of managing and balancing multiple initiatives concurrently
- Project management experience
- Internship experience as a Packaging Engineer, preferably in a Manufacturing setting, with demonstration of ownership and leadership of technical projects
- Experience with vendor management, including selection & qualification
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Excellent self-management and organization skills
- Ability to drive change through influence
Additional Information
- Some travel required 5-10% (domestic but could also include international travel).
- Will require occasional work in a manufacturing environment.
- Safety equipment and / or gowning may be required.
Salary : $64,500 - $167,200
