Summary of Position:

As a Packaging Engineer, you’ll take the lead in designing and developing cutting-edge cold-end equipment, packaging materials, and processes that ensure our products are handled with care and precision. Responsibilities
- Prioritize Safety: Ensure a safe working environment by strictly adhering to safety rules and procedures, always putting safety at the forefront of every task.
- Strategic Packaging Solutions: Develop and implement a comprehensive packaging strategy that meets the needs of Operations, Shipping, Warehousing, and Customers, driving efficiency and satisfaction.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Marketing, Engineering, Purchasing, Product Development, and Operations teams to evaluate costs and feasibility for innovative packaging solutions and processes.
- Streamlined Procedures: Create clear, efficient cold-end procedures and work instructions that are easy to understand, implement, and replicate.
- Innovate for Excellence: Collaborate with manufacturing sites, corporate teams, external suppliers, and customers to enhance cold-end packaging equipment and processes, optimizing safety, quality, and cost.
- Customer-Centric Approach: Understand the Voice of the Customer (VOC) by identifying product expectations, addressing pain points, and uncovering opportunities for improvement.
- Optimized Material Flow: Work with Corporate Engineering, KIE, and plant engineering teams to design manufacturing line layouts that enhance material flow and reduce operational costs.
- Stay Ahead of Technology: Stay informed on the latest advancements in automation technology for packaging and material handling, bringing cutting-edge solutions to the organization.
- Drive Improvements: Provide actionable recommendations for plant and product enhancements to boost efficiency and quality.
- Training & SOP Development: Deliver training and create standard operating procedures for new or upgraded packaging equipment to ensure seamless adoption.
- Maximize Equipment Performance: Continuously improve the performance of automated packaging equipment by identifying best practices, sharing knowledge across sites, and implementing technology upgrades.
- Lead Plant Trials: Take the lead or actively participate in plant trials for new products, material changes, or equipment upgrades in the packaging area.
- Champion Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives, such as Lean Six Sigma (LSS) and Kaizen, to enhance processes and outcomes.
- Drive the highest levels of employee retention and engagement to ensure a sustainable workforce.
- Fosters a culture of innovation, collaboration, and accountability within the organization.

Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or related field
Experience:
- Minimum three (3) years’ experience in packaging equipment design and automation
- Experience in project management and continuous improvement
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to travel 35% of the time
- Computer skills in MS Windows environment; Moderate skills with Word, PowerPoint and Excel
