Under the direction of the TASC Coordinator, the Barn Technician is responsible for the care and feeding of the animals as well as general upkeep of the TASC facilities.
Major Responsibilities:
- Feed and water all animals.
- Clean stalls and goat shed as needed. Maintain all TASC facilities and equipment.
- Coordinate regular and emergency veterinarian services. Document and administer all prescribed medicines or first-aid procedures.
- Communicate pertinent information and special needs of animals to all TASC personnel.
- Provide regular animal care including but not limited to hoof care; administering fly spray; bathing horses; and following severe weather procedures.
- Weekday Evenings (Mon-Friday 5:00pm -8:00pm. Weekend Mornings ( Sat, Sunday) 8:30am - 11:00am.
Requirements
Experience/Requirements:
- Previous horse care experience/knowledge is required. Ability to treat injuries & identify problems.
- Excellent communication skills as well as the ability to represent Eliada on campus and outside the agency.
- Must possess a valid North Carolina Driver’s license and be insurable by Eliada’s insurance carriers.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds (feed/hay)
- Reliable and consistent transportation
