The RISE Fellowship is a 13-month paid residency that provides recent college graduates the opportunity to gain valuable experience in the mental health field. As a member of the RISE Fellowship, fellows work as direct care staff in Eliada's psychiatric residential treatment programs. Throughout their time at Eliada, fellows become familiar with how to work and interact with children and adolescents who have been diagnosed with a variety of mental illnesses, from post-traumatic stress to oppositional defiant disorder. RISE Fellows are also able to participate in the many therapeutic and recreational activities that we have in place for our students.
This unique position is for a RISE Barn Technician who will work alongside other Barn staff in the care and feeding of Eliada animals as well as interact with residents in treatment and possible outpatient equine therapy sessions. The applicant will have access to training through the ARCH model of equine assisted facilitation as part of the fellowship.

Major Responsibilities:
1. Feed and water all animals.
2. Clean stalls, chicken coop, pastures, arena, and goat shed as needed. Maintain all TASC facilities and equipment.
3. Document and administer all prescribed medicines or first-aid procedures. Communicate pertinent information and special needs of animals to all TASC personnel including the TASC director.
4. Provide regular animal care including but not limited to hoof care; administering fly spray; bathing horses; grooming and clipping horses; blanketing horses; and following severe weather procedures.
5. Assist with teaching beginner horsemanship and/or equine therapy groups as needed

2. Display competence and responsiveness to cultural differences present in both customer and employee populations.
3. Perform other related programmatic tasks as requested.

Education/Experience:
Graduation from a 4-year college or university with a bachelor's degree. Required equine, barn, and/or farm experience.
Position requires qualities such as flexibility, willingness to learn, dedicated hard work, compassion and willingness to work with adolescents and animals, and a history of community involvement; must have a demonstrated ability to work in a high pressure, high stress environment.
