The Project Manager for the JACS 150th Symposia Series will oversee the planning and execution of a global event series. The role is responsible for ensuring seamless coordination of multiple symposia, managing timelines, and stakeholders to ensure Publications delivers a high-quality JACS Symposia Series. The Project Manager should have a strong project management experience (preferably in events), excellent communication skills, attention to details, confidence in interacting with senior executives, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Rate: $30 - $35 / hr. w2
Responsibilities:
- Event Strategy & Planning
- Develop and execute a comprehensive project plan for the JACS 150th Symposia Series.
- Define, document, and track all deliverables, and success metrics in alignment with business goals.
- Secure and manage the six separate MOU’s with the host institutions and coordinate the agreement of sessions with the Meetings team for the JACS symposia at ACS Fall and ABC Chem
- This involves coordinating and managing the multiple edits with stakeholders and legal councils from ACS and host institutions.
- Coordinate with stakeholders to determine event scope, target audience, and key messaging.
- Project Management & Execution
- Schedule weekly team meetings, take meeting notes, and assign/track action items.
- Develop and maintain each symposium timelines (e.g. registration, marketing, communications), milestones, and deliverables.
- Oversee vendor management and production schedules to ensure they are built into the timeline.
- Implement risk management strategies to address potential challenges for each location.
- Track registration for all 8 symposia against defined goals (count and revenue) o Process all travel and expense reimbursements for all external speakers (approximately 80) to ensure compliance with ACS policies.
- Stakeholder & Vendor Coordination
- Collaborate with internal 150th team, executive sponsors and ELT to provide regular, comprehensive updates on each Symposia and the overall project.
- Troubleshoot issues and implement solutions swiftly with key stakeholders.
- Post-Event Evaluation & Reporting
- Conduct post-event debriefs with internal and external stakeholders for each symposium, gather attendee and stakeholders’ feedback.
- Analyze event performance against KPIs and provide improvement recommendations ahead of the next symposium.
- Document best practices to enhance efficiency and effectiveness from one symposium to the next.
Experience Requirements:
- Strong understanding of event logistics, vendor management, and budgeting.
- Experience managing international events or multi-city event series preferred.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Poise and confidence in interacting with different stakeholders (senior executives, staff, partner institutions, external speakers and guests, and vendors)
- Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., Asana), event platforms (e.g., Cvent), Excel, and Powerpoint.
Education Requirements:
- Bachelors degree is required for this position
Skills, experience, and other compensable factors will be considered when determining pay rate. The pay range provided in this posting reflects a W2 hourly rate; other employment options may be available that may result in pay outside of the provided range.
