WHAT YOU'LL DO:
Prescription RX Coordinator is a part of the larger Patient Service Center. They are responsible for preparation and processing referrals and prior authorizations for Prescription Refills and Durable Medical Equipment (DME) orders, according to patient benefits and appropriate contracted provider. The RX Refill Coordinator is also responsible for responding to patient calls via a call queue or patient messaging to help coordinate requests for medication or DME.

Requirements
WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
The successful candidate will be willing and able to:
- Maintain ongoing tracking and appropriate documentation on referrals
- Ensure complete and accurate patient demographic and current insurance information
- Review details and expectations about referrals and/or prescription with patients
- Establish and maintain relationships with service providers
- Ensure that referrals are addressed in a timely manner
- Responsible for verifying eligibility and benefits through insurance companies including obtaining prior authorization
- Protects patient confidentiality, making sure protected health information is secured by not leaving PHI in plain sight and logging off the computer before leaving it unattended
- Answer phone calls prescription and referral related and offer assistance to ensure 1st call resolution
- Works as a liaison in between medical clinic and patient and sends messaging accordingly
- Interacts with patients, clinical providers and pharmacies to troubleshoot and resolve prescription refill issues and support patients as needed
- Responsible to notify manager of any issues or concerns from patient and/or provider
- Follow up on patient prescription or referral inquires not immediately resolved
- Assists as needed or directed with other department or business needs
- Legibly and accurately transcribes pharmacy refill requests into the medical records
- Supports Inbox Management for the Central Refill, Prior Authorization, and DME Pool
- Maintains strict patient confidentiality and good internal and external customer relations.
The successful candidate has:
- High school graduate or equivalent required.
- Graduate from an accredited Medical Assisting program with a diploma or an accredited Pharmacy Technician Program with a diploma.
- Previous back office experience is required.
- Previous experience working in an environment where medical and pharmaceutical terminology is used regularly is highly preferred.
- Previous experience working with computerized medical systems and electronic medical records, Athena preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Customer service related environment desired.
Additional Requirements:
- Must have a current and valid California driver’s license and the ability to provide proof of personal auto insurance on the vehicle driven during working hours.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment
The work environment is characteristic of normal office conditions. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; use hands to handle or lift. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust focus. The employee must also possess hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the phone. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
The employee may be required to run agency related errands and attend off-site meetings; the employee must be able to operate, maneuver and/or control a motor vehicle. In performing the driving responsibilities, the driver may sit for long periods. This requires intense concentration, particularly in poor driving conditions.
