(ECI) has been to assist self-pay hospital patients find the means to pay their medical bills through participation in various government assistant programs. ECI’s solutions encompass every potential self-pay patient from the lowest dollar outpatient and ER account to the most complex long-term disability.

Job Summary
The Eligibility Counselor is responsible for screening hospital uninsured patients and the advancement of accounts of potential eligibility of federal, state and county government assistance programs, as well as hospital financial programs.
Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Obtains daily census reports to identify uninsured patients
- Meets with patients and/or families to determine program eligibility
- Communicates with patients to ensure understanding of application process
- Obtains signed applications and forms and starts collection of pertaining documents for application advancement
- Performs patient’s follow-ups and revisits as needed
- Serves as an advocate for patients, hospital staff, and program agencies and provides a collaborative environment
- Uses clear, simple language to ensure understanding
- Complies with all state and federal laws regarding HIPAA and confidentiality requirements
- Able to remain focused and productive under pressure
- Maintains a large caseload
- Demonstrates respect for all individuals
- Keeps up to date with program knowledge and changes in eligibility policies
- Adheres to ECI’s Mission, Vision and Core Values
- Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:
- High School diploma / GED (or higher)
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, Excel)
- Ability and flexibility to work full-time (40 hours/week)
- Knowledge of Medicaid and SSI programs
Physical and Work Requirements:
- Long periods of walking, standing, frequent speaking, listening using a headset, sitting, use of hands/fingers across keyboard or mouse, extensive periods working at a computer
