Medical Interpreter

Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Medical Interpreter to facilitate effective communication between healthcare providers and patients who speak English/Spanish. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of medical terminology and be able to interpret accurately in a hospital setting, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations. This role is essential in promoting patient understanding and satisfaction while navigating the complexities of medical care.

Duties

• Interpret conversations between healthcare professionals and patients in real-time, ensuring clarity and accuracy.
• Assist in the communication of sensitive health information, demonstrating cultural sensitivity and professionalism.
• Support social work initiatives by providing interpretation services during consultations and assessments.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of medical terminology and practices to enhance interpretation accuracy.
• Collaborate with healthcare teams to improve patient care outcomes through effective communication strategies.

Experience

• Proven experience as a Medical Interpreter in a hospital or clinical setting is preferred.
• Bilingual proficiency is required; fluency in American Sign Language is a plus.
• Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and the importance of patient confidentiality.
• Background in social work or related fields is advantageous.
• Strong documentation review skills to ensure accuracy in medical records.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey complex information clearly.
