Job Summary
The Vice President of Mechanical Operations will be responsible for overseeing the strategic and day-to-day operations of our service, installation, multifamily, and new construction divisions. This role requires a hands-on leader with deep industry expertise, strong business acumen, and the ability to scale operations while maintaining quality and profitability.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Growth
- Develop and execute operational strategies to drive efficiency, profitability, and customer satisfaction.
- Identify new business opportunities, market trends, and expansion strategies in residential service, multifamily, and new construction sectors.
- Work closely with the President and executive team to align operations with the company’s overall vision.
Operations & Process Optimization
- Oversee HVAC service, installation, and construction teams to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
- Implement best practices, SOPs, and technology solutions to improve field efficiency and customer experience.
- Ensure proper scheduling, workforce management, and resource allocation across all service areas.
- Monitor and enhance inventory management, procurement, and fleet logistics.
Financial & Budget Management
- Develop and manage division budgets, P&L statements, and financial forecasting.
- Drive cost control initiatives while maintaining high standards of service and installations.
- Analyze financial and operational reports to identify areas for improvement.
Customer Service & Business Development
- Maintain and grow relationships with builders, property managers, developers, and homeowners.
- Work with sales and marketing teams to expand residential service and new installation sales.
- Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction, retention, and referrals.
Team Leadership & Development
- Recruit, train, and mentor technicians, project managers, and department heads.
- Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
- Implement training programs to keep employees up to date on industry standards and new technologies.
Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure all operations comply with OSHA, EPA, state, and local HVAC regulations.
- Implement strong safety programs to reduce workplace incidents.
- Oversee contract negotiations, warranties, and risk mitigation efforts.
Qualifications & Experience
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred.
- MBA or advanced leadership training is a plus.
Experience
- 10 years of HVAC operations experience, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
- Strong background in service, multifamily, and new residential construction HVAC projects.
- Proven success in scaling operations and improving profitability.
- Experience managing multi-location teams and subcontractor relationships.
Technical & Business Skills
- Knowledge of HVAC systems, installation processes, and service protocols.
- Familiarity with HVAC software (ServiceTitan, FieldEdge, or similar).
- Understanding of budgeting, P&L management, and operational KPIs.
- Expertise in contract negotiation, scheduling, and supply chain logistics.
Soft Skills
- Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making abilities.
- Ability to motivate and manage large teams across multiple service lines.
- Customer-focused mindset with a results-driven approach.
