Elizabeth Layton Center is looking for an experienced Client Account/Billing Specialist for our Paola office. EOE
ELC is a CCBHC (Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic)/Community Mental Health Center serving the citizens of Franklin and Miami counties in Kansas. Elizabeth Layton Center specializes in working with under-served populations, especially Medicaid and Medicare eligible clients, to meet needs unique to their situation and life experiences.
This is a full-time in office Monday - Friday position located in Paola, KS. We offer all full-time employees competitive pay, a comprehensive benefits program, flexible schedules and generous PTO. ELC participates in the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program.
Summary:
This position is responsible for collecting and maintaining accurate financial information on ELC clients including but not limited to updating insurance coverage, configuring patient fees based upon household income, working with clients on fee arrangements and requests for fee reductions, managing claims submission for attendant care services, managing AIMS data and other reporting, etc. This position reports directly to the Operations Director.
Major Job Responsibilities:
Reviews scheduled appointments daily and making notes regarding payment, past due balances, etc., for Front Desk collection at time of service
Take calls and meet with clients face-to-face to answer billing questions regarding payment for services, setting up payment plans and fee reductions
Collect new insurance coverage and other financial information from clients updating the client accounts to assure proper billing
Verify KanCare/Medicaid coverage eligibility monthly and make updates
Provide monthly updates to CSS Director for CSS client balances and compliance with payment plans for CSS services not covered by KanCare
Provide data for monthly Billing Department Report
Manages AIMS data and CSR submissions with a minimum 95% reached by the 14th of each month
Manages Attendant Care service claims through the Authenticare EVV system.
Special projects as needed
Complies with all ELC policies and procedures
Education and/or Experience:
High school degree or equivalent, some college preferred
Proficient in use of computer and Microsoft office
Some previous experience in medical billing or accounting preferred
Previous customer service experience preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to use own judgment in interpreting and adapting guidelines such as policies, regulations, precedents and work directions for application to specific cases or problems
Ability to establish and portray a positive working image with other departments and the public
Good knowledge of business English, spelling, punctuation and vocabulary
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions accurately
Ability to organize and coordinate special projects under the direction of the supervisor
Ability to work with very limited supervision. Ability to work independently, without constant direction and to organize and perform assigned tasks
Ability to conduct transactions and establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the public in a professional manner
Ability to maintain client confidentiality
Ability to communicate with all levels of management
Ability to safely perform major job responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodations
