Position Summary A career in Construction Operations provides the opportunity to support and ensure safe operations of construction in the field. The Project Coordinator Administrator Senior monitors, inspects, and maintains projects from start to finish. This involves scheduling meetings routinely throughout the project until completion. Additionally, this team member plays a role in ensuring company initiatives are on track, such as measuring performance within functional teams and working closely with other business units. The Construction Operations team is responsible for oversight of all capital construction work, including planning, assigning, monitoring, and reporting on all construction work completed by South Jersey Industries team members and contractors. Additionally, this team member supports the execution of strategic plans related to construction implementation and oversight, customer service, and quality controls. This team establishes priorities and resource allocation and maintains deadlines for effective and efficient delivery of multiple simultaneous projects. Essential Functions: Oversee construction of gas utility infrastructure for residential, commercial, and industrial properties, including supervising and inspecting all construction activities like safety, compliance, quality, locates and restoration Coordinate with internal and external service providers and support other units to take action in the field and ensure that work is performed as planned, permitted, and scheduled Review and approve work orders, progress reports, field changes, invoices, as-built records and bid contracts to ensure compliance with company standards and policies Maintain customer satisfaction through timely and thorough communication with customers, municipalities and other governmental agencies such as DOTS, Counties, etc., including serving as initial contact for new business construction inquiries for developers, builders, homeowners, and Service Center personnel Champion Quality Assurance (e.g., policies, procedures, standards) and Quality Control on all capital construction projects Drive results through performance management of external and indirect resources including setting expectations, evaluating results, and taking corrective action as needed Direct “root-cause” analysis on any self-inflicted gas damage or customer outage related to construction Influence external contractors who represent the company by exhibiting the organization’s values Qualifications Required Skills: Strong communication with all levels of the organization Outstanding interpersonal skills for establishing and maintaining effective working relationships Contract and performance management capabilities Negotiation skills Ability to walk construction sites and potentially drive for up to four (4) hours at a time Required Background: High School/GED 5 years of overseeing construction and/or distribution operations in a gas utility or equivalent work experience Preferred Background: Bachelor’s degree and/or Master’s degree with 3 years of relevant experience. Experience in gas industry focused on capital construction and maintenance and/or experience in field inspection activities, project control activities, process improvements, business systems, or similar NACE I CWPI or CWI Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office products Explore the Possibilities South Jersey Industries employs a diverse range of talent – from construction contractors to environmental specialists.
