JOB TITLE : Senior Parent and Child Specialist
PRIMARY FUNCTION : Assisting in all aspects of the delivery of therapeutic mentoring services, parent support, supervised visitation, visit coaching and staff supervision. Maintaining and coordinating caseload of families while serving as a positive role model for youth, parents and families, providing support, coaching, training, and supervision within a healthy, positive relationship.
RESPONSIBILITIES :
Actively promote and recruit therapeutic mentoring / visit and parent coaching referrals and help recruit qualified staff within the identified local areaSupervise the processing of all therapeutic mentoring referrals, including the following :Determine the appropriateness of a referral based on the client’s need, Elk Hill’s expertise, staffing availability and geographic dynamicsComplete screening of referred clients and, for all clients found to be appropriate for supervised visit / therapeutic mentoring services, completion of an assessment.Ensure that all required documentation is completed for billing and payrollArrange the logistics for the provision of all of Prevention Services, including supporting staff in scheduling.Provide placing / referring agencies, families, clients, and others with necessary documentation for servicesWork with youth and families to develop interpersonal, communication, social, and problem-solving skills, as well as age-appropriate behaviors and constructive use of leisure timeProvide and supervise recreational and social activities based on the goals established collaboratively with the youth, parents, and placing agencyDemonstrate sensitivity to the needs of parents and youth, flexibility, a non-threatening manner, respect for youth’s autonomy, confidentiality, socio-cultural values, personal goals, lifestyle choices, and family interactions, and appropriate professional boundaries and ethicsMaintain and develop positive relationships with referring agencies, social workers, school placements, court service personnel, parents, licensed mental health professionals and other persons involved in youth and family servicesAssume primary responsibility for developing, implementing, and overseeing supervised visitation / therapeutic mentoring services, including the following :Identify and implement a model of service delivery that most effectively and efficiently meets the needs of our clientsProvide necessary training to staff who provide therapeutic mentoring services for Elk HillMaintain appropriate staffing levels to meet program needsWork closely with the Visit Supervisor / Mentors, Prevention and Outdoor Programs Director, and other relevant persons to ensure proper billing procedures are practicedWrite service goals and review session notes created for clients receiving therapeutic mentoring services, as well as any other documentation generated by Elk Hill related to the clientMaintain comprehensive client files, records and outcome / client satisfaction data concerning community services activities for evaluation purposesWork cooperatively with Elk Hill staff to improve the quality of the organizationRepresent Elk Hill at FAPT, CPMT, VCOPPA, VAISSEF, vendor fairs, and any other marketing, community, or professional events / organizations as neededOther duties as assignedORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS :
Responsible to Prevention and Outdoor Programs Director and / or Community Services DirectorAssist in supervising and evaluating those providing services for Elk Hill’s Prevention Services TeamPERFORMANCE EVALUATION STANDARDS :
Ability to meet stated annual budget goalsHigh level of involvement and satisfaction of youth, families, and community agencies being servedPromptness and appropriateness of documentation of services including the completion of assessments in an expedited matter of timeAttention to detail and quality / quantity of consistent job attendanceQUALIFICATIONS :
Meet requirements of a Qualified Mental Health Professional or Licensed Mental Health Professional (LMHP or LMHP-R)Home-based, Therapeutic Day Treatment, Outpatient, or Residential experience, preferredExperience in clinical and / or administrative supervision preferredStrong written and verbal communication skillsAbility to work independently and without direct supervisionHold a valid driver’s licenseWillingness to travel and possibly work non-traditional business hoursExhibit consistent personal integrity in dealings with youth, families, co-workers, and community agenciesHigh level of organizational skillsDiversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) is at the forefront of what we do at Elk Hill, and we enforce respectful communication and cooperation between all.
