What are the responsibilities and job description for the Production Machine Operator - 2nd Shift position at Elkhart Products Corporation?
Basic Purpose of Position
Set up, adjust and operate several machine tools on standardized work where set up detail and operating procedures are prescribed or operate and maintain on special and single purpose machines where operations may involve several progressive machining sequences.
Essential Functions of Position
- Adhere and follow all safety and company policies
- Follow all safety rules regarding machine operation and proper guarding
- Follow directions and produce required quantity of parts
- Produce quality products that meet product specifications and required tolerances
- Help set up jobs according to specifications of work order
- Work on different types of equipment to carry out a particular phase of the production cycle.
- Required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, lift/move up to 50 pounds.
- Largely repetitive work where fixtures, machine stops and indexing devices are utilized to control critical tolerances or where dimensions are not difficult to maintain
- Responsible for taking care of routine machine maintenance and keeping work area in clean and neat condition
- Maintain simple reports on required written paperwork, quality checks, hour by hour boards with production numbers kept up-to-date
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret prints and work orders
- Ability to apply basic math concepts and read a ruler and/or gauge
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables
- All other duties as assigned

Production floor with noise level in the work environment usually moderate
Normal Equipment Used
Robotic, rotary and/or hydraulic production equipment, calculator, micrometer, gauges
Contact with Others
Other production workers, material handlers, group leaders, support staff in Tool Room, Tool Crib & Maintenance, Engineering, Production Supervisors, Plant Manager
