The Basics ~

The Hospitality Crew positions cover the areas of housekeeping and the guest dining room. Hospitality workers do daily cleaning in guest cabins and ranch common areas, kitchen and dining room prep chores (including washing dishes), laundry service, and dining room service. While there are routines for all of these jobs, we provide a very personalized experience for our guests, so attention to detail is important. These are great jobs for someone who enjoys living and working in a rural place, being physically active while working, meeting, and talking with people of all ages, and being part of a close-knit team. There is not a uniform but there are attire guidelines for all of our crew that will be reviewed during the interview process.

About Elkhorn Ranch ~

We are a winter season guest, or dude, ranch in the rugged Baboquivari Mountains southwest of Tucson, Arizona that provides personalized horseback riding, hiking, and comfortable living for about 32 guests. The Miller family has owned and operated Elkhorn continuously since 1945. We hire about 20 people from October through early May for seasonal jobs.

All Elkhorn Ranch crew live on the ranch and work a 6 day work week with one regularly scheduled day off. The compensation for all Elkhorn Ranch jobs consists of full room and board (equivalent value to $5 per hour), one day off per week, and financial compensation from wage and a guaranteed portion of the crew gratuity pool. The remaining gratuity pool is distributed to all crew present at the end of the season. Medical insurance benefits are provided to 2nd season crew and beyond. • Physical strength and stamina, ability to work quickly, ability to life and bend and be on your feet throughout work day
• Skills in the areas of organization, planning and time management, attention to detail, and self-motivation
• Reliable, punctual, and dedicated to completion of commitments
• Enjoy meeting and talking with people of all ages
• Ability to observe, care for, and take care of details to keep the indoor and outdoor communal dining room area clean, functional, and aesthetically pleasing
• Appreciation of and interest in caring for unique household furnishings and art
• Tidy and clean works habits and care about work tools and work environment
• Friendly, professional, positive attitude, and team-oriented
• Genuine dedication to hospitality and caring for people and the environment where they live and work
• Must not be squeamish about dirty dishes or cleaning a bathroom, nor afraid of spiders, mice, insects, or lizards

Qualifications ~

• One year of work in hospitality, ideally including professional housekeeping or serving
• Available to work complete guest season, including weekends and holidays
• Willingness to live and work at a remote location and get along with co-workers during work time and off-work time
