About the Position
The Lead Counselor ensures smooth daily operations, serving as both a mentor for counselors and a guide for campers. You’ll:
- Provide direct support for campers, including personal care and ADLs, while helping them transition into the camp culture and thrive in their environment.
- Act as a liaison between counselors and leadership, addressing needs, concerns, and feedback.
- Support the Camp Director by supervising cabin leaders and counselors, conducting performance evaluations, and offering guidance.
- Champion a positive and inclusive environment where everyone can grow, participate, and feel valued.
What You Need to Excel
- Experience with Campers with Complex Needs: Hands-on experience with individuals who have special needs, including behavioral, emotional, or developmental challenges.
- ABA/RBT Certification (Preferred): Expertise in behavioral strategies and interventions is a plus.
- Strong Leadership Skills: Proven ability to guide, inspire, and mentor a team.
- Supportive and Compassionate: A natural educator and role model, eager to help others grow.
- Behavioral Support Expertise: Skilled in handling challenging behaviors with calm, effective strategies.
- Commitment to Camper Growth: A dedication to fostering camper success, confidence, and development.
Entry Requirements
- Age: Must be 18 years or older.
- Health Clearance: Provide a signed physical/health form from a medical professional.
- References: Three professional/character references from non-family members.
- Background Check: Clear police and sex offender checks for both USA and home country, completed annually.
- Training: Attend and pass New Hire Training before working directly with campers.
