- POSITION SUMMARY
Licensed Nursing Assistant
Functions as an integral member of the care delivery team by providing direct and indirect patient care under the direction of a RN and within the scope of practice of a Licensed Nursing Assistant. Assists patients with activities of daily living, provides for personal care, emotional support and performs more complex clinical skills under the direction of an RN.
Unit Secretary
Under the supervision of an RN, performs a variety of clerical duties on patient units, including filing, transcribing, charting, sorting patient information, acting as receptionist, receiving and directing visitors, and answering the phone, etc.
- KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Licensed Nursing Assistant
- Performs or assists patients in the completion of activities of daily living.
- Utilizes basic knowledge of growth and development to provide age-specific patient care.
- Provides basic support to patients and families in response to identified psychosocial needs along with cultural and religious preferences.
- Reports all observations, symptoms, deviations from normal, and changes in patient's condition to the Registered Nurse.
- Assists others in performing selected patient care activities or tasks as appropriate; accepts and performs delegation of tasks from the Registered Nurse (RN) appropriately.
- Documents in selected areas of the medical record, as appropriate, according to policies, procedures and scope of practice.
- Follows all infection prevention/universal precautions policies as appropriate.
- Incorporates safety principles, policies and procedures into daily practice.
- Ensures confidentiality of all patients, employees, legal, budget, and company matters. Maintains patient privacy and dignity.
- Performs designated indirect patient care such as; supply/equipment maintenance and environmental duties as assigned or directed.
- Performs routine and emergency phlebotomy, collects laboratory specimens and processes specimens in point of care (POC) testing areas according to policies, procedures and scope of practice.
- Consults with and/or communicates questions and concerns to the Emergency Department Lead Tech or other members of the ED Leadership Team.
- Unit Secretary
- Contributes to ensuring effective and efficient communication with all members of the multidisciplinary patient care team in person or via telephone.
- Uses appropriate telephone etiquette when answering the telephone and assisting the caller with their needs, assuring they are referred to the proper destination.
- Supports effective and efficient patient care processes through timely and accurate entry of orders/data; such as EKG and lab orders, along with entering inpatient admission details including admitting provider, diagnosis, inpatient bed assignment, etc.)
- Ensures integrity, completeness and proper organization of patient's medical record, within scope of practice. Including disassembling and reorganizing of charts upon discharge before forwarding to medical records.
- Prepares patient transfer paperwork for patients being transferred out of the Emergency Department and to a higher level of care by copying and organizing required documents, including disc(s) of diagnostic imaging if necessary.

- EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/LICENSURE
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience: One (1) year Licensed Nursing Assistant experience required. Emergency Department experience preferred. Phlebotomist experience preferred.
- Certification/Licensure: Current Nursing Assistant license in the State of New Hampshire required. BLS certification required. CPI Foundation and CPI Advanced certification required within six (6) months of date of hire. Phlebotomy certification required within one (1) year of hire.
