PURPOSE OF THE JOB

BACKGROUND and EXPERIENCE
- BS Degree in an engineering discipline
- Five (5) years of experience with Elliott Company or equivalent industry experience.
- Two (2) years’ experience as Project Engineer or equivalent industry experience.
- Experience and ability in customer relations, including negotiation.
- Understanding of Elliott products processes, procedures, and personnel sufficient to understand troubleshooting and specification compliance issues and provide guidance towards resolution.
- Strong communications skills, both verbal and written, including conflict resolution, and ability to comprehend present detailed technical solutions internally and externally.
- Has good organizational skills, can think creatively, and independently.
- Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of financial and commercial issues as related to contract execution in a competitive and aggressive industry.
- Possesses basic knowledge of accounting principles, budgetary requirements, and cost controls to be considered.
- Exemplifies a commitment to continuous personal professional growth, either technical or commercial.
NATURE OF THE JOB
This is a leadership role with supervisory and cost management requirements of a technical group handling specified engineered product. Supervision of diverse and highly skilled group of individuals is required. An ability to interact with, motivate, direct, and manage others to achieve section,
department, corporate, and project goals is required. Because, the group interacts with many organizations, both upstream and downstream in the order process internal to Elliott, and with customer and supplier organizations external to Elliott, negotiation and conflict resolution skills are required.
- Support of integration with Sodeguara is required.
- Technical leadership and versatility are a requirement, as well as an ability to leverage resources and Elliott corporate technical capabilities to achieve project goals. Position requires a broad technicalbreadth, and ability to quickly analyze and address complex technical problems associated with Engineered products. This requires unique solutions to complex issues, as engineered product contracts vary with each project in quantity and content of equipment, specification level, enforcement degree, etc. Issues brought to this position's level often involve approaches and solutions of an uncharted nature.
- The position also requires monitoring of work process to seek improvements, enhancing safety, quality, productivity and delivery while maintaining collaborative environment.
CONTACT WITH OTHERS
This position requires primary contact with Engineered Product Management, Project Management, and other Engineered Product business sections such as Engineered Product Drafting, Compressor and Turbine Engineering, Product Engineering, Controls Engineering and Test Engineering. Additionally, other areas of Elliott Company, including but not limited to Sales, Applications Engineering, Marketing, Production Control, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Legal, Financial, Field Service, Executive Management, Union work force and officials, Human Resources, are additional points of contact. Routine customer contact is expected, including purchaser, engineering contractor, expediting and inspection representatives. Required to participate in major client meetings and negotiations worldwide.
SUPERVISION
The position is managerial in nature, and responsibilities include all aspects of directing the accurate and timely execution of all Engineered Product contracts with project budgets. Activities include daily direct contact with 10 or more individual Team Members, each responsible for Engineered Product contracts of varying complexity and number. The position is responsible for all personnel aspects of the group, including load management, hiring, firing, performance appraisal and input to salary plan.
SPECIFIC JOB RESPONSIBILITIES/COMPETENCIES
- Supervise, motivate, and direct the day-to-day activities of the Balance of Plant Focus Factory of the Engineered Products business unit, to achieve fair and satisfactory execution of contracts, within project budgets and to project schedules.
- Maintain an environment for professional and ethical conduct within the Balance of Plant Focus Factory as directed by Elliott corporate policies and Elliott Code of Ethics.
- Establish measurements of project deliverables to gauge Engineering performance to project schedules and demands as directed by the Director of Operations Engineered Products.
- Administrate and monitor Engineering work load and demand to efficiently address Engineered Product project load, access and make recommendations to achieve appropriate levels of staffing to maintain organization effectiveness. Use loading evaluation methods and business forecasts to develop appropriate work distribution.
- Develop and maintain department process work standards and tools for the Project Engineers to achieve department goals, while improving efficiency and department throughput. Foster continuous improvement of those procedures and tools and encourage participation and contribution from the Engineers in their development.
- Provide management support and advocate on behalf of the Team Leaders to achieve project goals, internally with other internal Elliott business functions, external Elliott material and service suppliers, and with Elliott customers to resolve conflicts and differences.
- Improve interface between Engineering and upstream internal suppliers, and downstream internal customers by developing meaningful methods for exchange of information and knowledge for the betterment of Elliott business yields and customer satisfaction.
- Work with each individual Team Leader and Engineer to develop technical and commercial competence, encourage personal development and career growth by creating individualized career plans and goals with input from each Engineer.
- Promote a positive attitude for a safe and healthy work environment, as well as awareness for high quality products and services from the section in support of Elliott management initiatives.
- Responsibly manage the sectional budget and costs to remain within allocated amounts.
- Provide guidance, direction, and support to Sales, Applications, and Marketing on individual quotations, and seek to develop market driven standardized solutions. This includes an individual effort to review customer specifications, and development of section efforts to increase Elliott sales margins while improving customer satisfaction.
