Overview & Responsibilities
PURPOSE OF THE JOB
The primary function of this position is to perform all drafting requirements via Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) inside the Drafting and Design Cryodynamic Pump group area of responsibility for Global Manufacturing.
Prepares manufacturing, vendor and customer detail drawings of product components by drawing graphic representations of products adding standard details and some creation of bills of material, including but not limited to existing drawing revisions.
NATURE OF THE JOB
This position would require employee to complete detailed drawings of components and assemblies including adding the proper dimensions, views and tolerances needed for manufacturing per existing form drawings or reference documents.
May be required to complete bills of material for components and assemblies in Windchill.
All tasks are assigned by senior personnel or Drafting Supervisor.
Some independent decisions are made regarding detail drawings but should always be reviewed by senior personnel or Supervisor before released.
SPECIFIC JOB RESPONSIBILITIES/COMPETENCIES
- Completes work assignments with most of the direction coming from the Drafting Supervisor and/or drafting lead.
- Finds references and/or proper workflows and processes with assistance if needed to complete assignments from the Drafting Supervisor and/or drafting lead.
- Checks their own work prior to handing drawings to checker
- o Minor drawing mistakes should be caught (missing dimensions, incorrect dimensions, missing views, etc.)
- Provides all necessary information to checker in drawing packet.
- o First pass yield sheet (if applicable), completed checklist (if applicable), reference material used, markups from their self-check, etc.
- Makes minor revisions and detailing of simple, less complicated parts with little to no errors
- Completes light modeling on simple, less complicated parts. (Pump Housings, Shafts, Impellers, Casings, Vanes, Bearing Housings etc.)
- Reviews drafting assignments and researches files for existing drawings that meet or nearly meet the specifications or will serve as references for new drawings.
- Maintains related records and files.
- Creates electronic Bills of Material.
- Presents drafting procedures and product change suggestions for consideration and review.
BACKGROUND and EXPERIENCE
- Associate degree in specialized technology or a minimum of two (2) years of drafting experience with mechanical related activities.
- Proficient computer skills in: Basic PC skills, MS Word, Excel, Lotus Notes, Windchill and CAD packages such as Auto-Cad, SolidWorks and/or Creo.
- Although training will be provided, experience with 3D modeling especially utilizing Creo is favorable.
- Experience with Windchill, Product Life Management (PLM) software is a plus
- Knowledge of fabrication methods such as castings, forging, weldments etc. is a plus
