Facilities Technician

Coordinates the proper care of Ellipsis facilities, equipment, and grounds. Collaborates with property management company and other service providers to ensure a clean, safe, and efficient environment for all Ellipsis services and related support functions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategy

• Works to understand leadership’s goals around facilities care and uses these priorities to direct daily custodial work
• Plays an important role in keeping the property safe, clean, and properly maintained

Building and Grounds Maintenance

• Routinely observes the grounds, facilities, and equipment notes when repairs or maintenance are needed; shares requests or concerns with the Chief Financial and Administrative Officer and/or the Chief Operating Officer for prioritization and coordination with the property management company
• Responds in a timely manner to janitorial, maintenance, and other facility-related custodial requests
• Performs routine and preventative repair, general maintenance and janitorial service as needed and required
• Maintains accurate and timely maintenance records
• Orders and maintains facility related supplies to support janitorial services, building care, repair, and maintenance items

Vehicle Maintenance

• Performs and/or schedules routine maintenance of agency vehicles and coordinates any necessary repair service

Special Events

• Assists with agency special events and manages designated logistical responsibilities
• Provides guidance and coordination for volunteer-related building and grounds projects
• Performs other duties as assigned

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

• High School Diploma or GED
• Experience and knowledge of routine and preventative maintenance and repairs to include painting, minor repairs, and other related facilities improvements
• Experience to include carpentry, construction, facility repairs and maintenance and custodial
• Multiple other trade experience, include electrical and plumbing
• Experience with commercial cleaning techniques, including the ability to handle chemicals according to safety procedures
• Demonstrates attention to detail in ensuring facilities are kept clean and tidy
• Proven ability to plan, execute, track, and report on work progress
• Critical thinker and problem solver who demonstrates decision-making and time-management skills
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Able to work independently, with minimal oversight, and with high ethical standards
• Able to deal tactfully with youth, family members, visitors, government agency representatives and the general public
• Able to provide positive role modeling for residents in areas of communication, decision-making, and problem solving
• Willing to make decisions based on what’s best for kids and families
• Willing to participate in all scheduled meetings, trainings and supervision sessions as requested
• Basic computer skills including experience working in Microsoft Windows and Office products
• Clear criminal and child abuse background checks
• Acceptable driving record

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

• Understanding of the Juvenile Court System and the Department of Human Services system
• Experience working with children and families in a community-based program preferred
• Knowledge in the field of child services helpful. Knowledge or prior experience working with high-risk youth, especially with youth who have experienced abuse, neglect, homelessness, or other traumatic experiences preferred
