Duties & Responsibilities:
The
role of the HIM Manager oversees all Health Information Management functions,
including indexing, abstracting, coding, research, information release, filing,
storage, retrieval and maintenance, transcription, and the Electronic Health
Record. Identifies, reviews, interprets
highly complex acuity, procedural, and diagnostic codes. Understands reimbursement and compliance with
payer and regulatory requirements.
All
duties conducted in accordance with federal, state, and local regulatory
requirements, established policies and procedures, and quality standards.
Experience & Skills Preferred:
- Associate degree,
RHIT, CCS, or RHIA Certified in either Health Information Management or
Business preferred.
- Minimum 5 years’ medical
records service experience preferred.
- Demonstrated leadership ability
- Excellent skills in organization, prioritization,
and multi-tasking.
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects.
- Excellent interpersonal and technical skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to
explain diverse technical problems in easy-to-understand language.
- CPR, Continuing
Education units as required by credentialing agency
