Health Information Management Specialist

Job Summary : The HIM Specialist processes all facility and clinic records, analyze and identify documentation deficiencies and to assign deficiencies to appropriate personnel for completion. Responsible for releasing patient records in accordance with hospital policy and HIPAA guidelines. Other duties as assigned.
Essential Accountabilities
- Collects, processes and scans all facility and / or clinic paper records
- Analyzes records for completeness
- Assigns documentation deficiencies when necessary.
- Displays accountability and consistency on outstanding, incomplete records.
- Works in conjunction with facility departments to streamline record collection and completion processes for all documents, registries, reports, etc.
- Releases PHI in accordance with hospital policy and HIPAA guidelines
- Remains up to date on HIPAA updates and privacy laws
