What are the responsibilities and job description for the Transportation Specialist position at Elmbrook Home?

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Successfully meets all requirements of Transportation Driver position, including Driver Record report; meets and completes ongoing training and driver
- Transports our elders to and from medical appointments, activities, and shopping errands.
- Reads the transportation schedule daily and makes sure all scheduled appointments can be made in a timely fashion.
- Completes routine periodic vehicle inspection check, and informs Administrator of any maintenance problems or safety issues that need to be addressed.
- Is thoroughly familiar with fire, missing persons and other emergency procedures; Follows community policy and procedures detailed in fire and disaster
- Ensuring elder safety by loading, transporting and unloading.
Job Qualifications:
- Has current state driver’s license and acceptable driving
- Displays mature behavior and attitude in speech and action; demonstrates consistently pleasant demeanor, tone of voice, supports the philosophy and approach to elder care and passenger safety, used by our homes.
- Performs all tasks with grace; works cooperatively with supervisors and displays willingness to assist co-workers.
- Able to do occasional heavy lifting of elders (up to 80).
Must have the ability to spend long periods of time on feet and to ambulate quickly. Frequent lifting, pushing, pulling, moving of equipment, bending and stooping. Must possess sight and hearing senses or use prosthesis that will enable these senses to function adequately so that the requirements of this position can be fully met. Must have ability to operate van lift.
