What are the responsibilities and job description for the Food & Beverage Captain position at Elmcrest Country Club?
- In coordination with management, oversees a la carte and banquet events based on specifications documented on the function sheet.
- Supervises and directs service staff during all phases of an event, ensuring Club processes are followed by all employees. Updates processes, as necessary in coordination with management.
- Effectively and regularly communicates expectations and service goals to staff.
- Coordinates food service between kitchen and service staff.
- Inspects Clubhouse daily for proper appearance.
- Maintains stock of all service equipment and supplies to meet required needs.
- Enforces established Club rules and policies.
- Prepares and reviews event diagrams and set-up needed for events.
- Participates in or conducts pre-function meetings with service staff to ensure smooth, efficient service; assigns roles and coordinates the timing of courses.
- Ensures event sidework is assigned and completed as required. Knowledgeable of and adheres to all uniform requirements; to be professional in both appearance and manner at all times.
- Report to work on time and in full uniform; prepared to work when they clock in. Check with manager prior to clocking out.
- Report to shift meetings on time and prepared.
- Ensures all service staff are well-groomed and in proper uniform.
- Assists with training and evaluating of service staff.
- Assures the neatness, cleanliness, and safety of all a la carte and banquet areas.
- Interacts with banquet host or hostess to assure all needs are being met.
- Assures that state and local laws and the Club’s policies and procedures for the service of alcoholic beverages are consistently followed.
- Notifies management of member/guest compliments and complaints.
- Oversees breakdown of event, including clean-up activities, reset for future events, and securing the facilities.
- Completes an after-event report to improve quality and efficiency of events. Communicates successes/improvements to be made to management.
- Ensures that all appropriate charges are billed correctly to each event and forwarded to the Accounting Department.
- Participates in on-going facility inspections to assure that cleanliness, maintenance, safety, and other standards are consistently attained.
- Maintains and demonstrates the ability to work under pressure.
- Reinforces and positive and professional environment.
- Completes opening and closing procedures for the Clubhouse.
- Monitor to ensure adequate Beer, Wine and Spirts levels
- Updates order guide to assist with inventory management.
- Reports all accidents to Human Resources.
- Able to lift 50 pounds.
- Actively support Club culture.
- Completes other appropriate assignments made by management.
