Lifeguard

We are now hiring LIFEGUARDS at our Outdoor Pools during the Summer 2025 season!
 
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
As a lifeguard, you will be responsible for supervising pool patrons and ensure their safety and well-being through the enforcement of rules and regulations. Additional responsibilities include: 

• Ensure safety of participants when they are in pool area by enforcing Enforce Park District rules and safety practices.
• Scan pool area frequently, keeping attention focused on the pool by using the 10/20 rule.
• Perform any necessary rescues and First Aid in accordance with StarGuard standards.
• Wear official pool uniform, including corrective eyewear at all times on duty, if medically necessary
  
• Maintain lifeguard certification by attending weekly in-service training and practicing skills. 
  

WHAT YOU’LL BRING:

• Some high school education.
• Must be at least 15 years of age pursuant to Illinois Department of Health regulations by May 16, 2025
• Ability to complete an online learning course.
• StarGuard Lifeguard certification or ability to obtain prior to starting work.
• Ability to swim 200 yards, tread water for 2 minutes, retrieve diving brick from the bottom of 12 feet.

WHEN YOU’LL WORK:
Scheduled days and hours may vary, 20-40 hours per week. Flexible schedules! We will work with you and your schedule!
 

WHAT YOU’LL GET:

• The anticipated starting pay for this position is $18.00/hour.
• This position falls under Pay Grade E with a pay range of $14.00 - $19.00.
