What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lifeguard position at Elmhurst Park District?

We are now hiring LIFEGUARDS at our Outdoor Pools during the Summer 2025 season!
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
As a lifeguard, you will be responsible for supervising pool patrons and ensure their safety and well-being through the enforcement of rules and regulations. Additional responsibilities include:
- Ensure safety of participants when they are in pool area by enforcing Enforce Park District rules and safety practices.
- Scan pool area frequently, keeping attention focused on the pool by using the 10/20 rule.
- Perform any necessary rescues and First Aid in accordance with StarGuard standards.
- Wear official pool uniform, including corrective eyewear at all times on duty, if medically necessary
- Maintain lifeguard certification by attending weekly in-service training and practicing skills.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING:
- Some high school education.
- Must be at least 15 years of age pursuant to Illinois Department of Health regulations by May 16, 2025
- Ability to complete an online learning course.
- StarGuard Lifeguard certification or ability to obtain prior to starting work.
- Ability to swim 200 yards, tread water for 2 minutes, retrieve diving brick from the bottom of 12 feet.
WHEN YOU’LL WORK:
Scheduled days and hours may vary, 20-40 hours per week. Flexible schedules! We will work with you and your schedule!
WHAT YOU’LL GET:
- The anticipated starting pay for this position is $18.00/hour.
- This position falls under Pay Grade E with a pay range of $14.00 - $19.00.
