What are the responsibilities and job description for the Event Bartender position at Elmwood Park Zoo?
Reports to: Guest Services Management Team
Summary of Responsibilities:
This individual is responsible for operating the Zoo’s bar service. Must be able to work 20 hours a week, which includes weekends, holidays, and during school breaks. Schedule varies and is dependent on the Zoo’s event calendar, weather, and guest attendance. Due to the nature of the position, the majority of shifts will be on weekend evenings.
- To uphold the Zoo’s mission of fostering an appreciation of wildlife and the environment that will inspire active participation in conservation.
- Have knowledge and understanding of all Zoo policies and procedures.
- Assist Management in ensuring safety, cleanliness, and efficiency in all areas of the Zoo’s operation.
- Ability to interact and communicate cordially with the public.
- Provide a quality experience for all Event Guests.
- Ensure a clean and sanitary work environment.
- Manage cash sales on a daily basis.
- Set up, operate, and breakdown event bars in accordance with instructions provided by the Banquet Captain.
- Enforce alcohol management practices.
- Provide excellent service to all guests in accordance with the Zoo’s standards.
- Help in other tasks per event needs.
- Must be 18 years of age.
- Prior food service and/or bartending experience required.
- Cordial and personable demeanor.
- Comfortability working under pressure and with large crowds.
- Proactive and capable of working effectively with minimal direction.
- Comfortability working in a team, and helping others.
- Meets the needs and expectations of the role, as per business needs.
- Prior food service and/or bartending experience required. Cash handling experience is preferred.
Identification: Two forms of valid ID are required. Ability to pass background and child abuse clearances.
Compensation: $15.00/hour
