Estimator – Commercial General Contractor | Dallas, TX
Are you a detail-oriented Estimator looking for an opportunity with a well-established Commercial General Contractor in Dallas? We are seeking an experienced professional to lead preconstruction efforts and provide accurate cost estimates for ground-up commercial projects in the DFW area.
Position Overview:
The Estimator will be responsible for analyzing project specifications, preparing cost estimates, and collaborating with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure competitive and accurate bids. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of estimating experience in commercial construction, with a strong understanding of budgeting, cost analysis, and industry best practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for ground-up commercial projects
- Review architectural plans, specifications, and contracts to determine project scope
- Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier bids for accuracy and competitiveness
- Develop and maintain project budgets, cost databases, and historical data
- Collaborate with Project Managers, Owners, and Architects to ensure alignment on scope and costs
- Identify and mitigate potential risks that could impact project cost and feasibility
- Assist in preparing and submitting RFPs and bid proposals
- Stay up to date with market trends, material costs, and construction techniques
Key Requirements:
- 5 years of experience as a Construction Estimator in ground-up commercial projects
- Strong knowledge of cost estimating software (e.g., ProEst, Bluebeam, PlanSwift, or similar)
- Experience working with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain accurate pricing
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, contracts, and technical documents
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to assess project feasibility and risks
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders
