About the Role:
We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Director, Business Development β Air & Ocean to join our team in Chicago. This individual will play a critical role in expanding our Air & Ocean freight forwarding business by identifying new opportunities, developing strategic relationships, and driving revenue growth. The role is purely focused on business development and does not involve direct team management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute a strategic sales plan to expand Air & Ocean freight services within targeted markets.
- Identify, prospect, and secure new customers through direct engagement, networking, and market research.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, carriers, and other key industry stakeholders.
- Negotiate pricing, contracts, and service agreements to ensure competitive and profitable growth.
- Collaborate with internal teams, including operations and customer service, to ensure seamless execution of client solutions.
- Stay informed on market trends, industry developments, and competitive landscape to drive informed business decisions.
- Represent the company at industry events, trade shows, and networking opportunities to promote brand visibility.
- Meet and exceed sales targets and KPIs as set by company leadership.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of business development experience in Air & Ocean freight forwarding.
- Proven track record of successfully acquiring new business and growing revenue streams.
- Strong knowledge of international logistics, trade regulations, and global supply chain solutions.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and presentation skills.
- Ability to develop and maintain relationships with key decision-makers and stakeholders.
- Self-motivated, goal-oriented, and capable of working independently.
- Proficiency in CRM systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to travel as needed to meet with clients and attend industry events.
Salary : $100,000 - $135,000
