POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

TITLE: Custodian

WAGE: $15.00 per hour (DOE) / full time – 40 hours per week

OPENING DATE: March 26, 2025

CLOSING DATE: Until Filled

DEFINITION: Under the direct supervision of the Tribal Administrative Assistant. Custodian will be responsible for janitorial services of the Tribal buildings, which includes: E.P.A., Maintenance Shop, Newe Clinic, Education, Administration, Housing, Law Enforcement and Tribal Court Building.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible for the basic janitorial service / maintenance of the Tribal Buildings. Additional duties may be assigned.

NEWE CLINIC DAILY SERVICES: Toilets (Public and Staff)

1. Floors shall be swept and dry vacuumed and wet mopped or scrubbed with germicidal detergent-disinfectant (GDD).

2. Water closets, urinals, and sinks shall be cleaned and sanitized with GDD. No rust or encrustation shall remain. Traps shall be maintained free from odor at all times.

3. Mirrors, shelves, dispensers, and chromium fixtures shall be damp wiped with a germicidal solution and polished.

4. All other surfaces shall spot-cleaned and horizontal surfaces dusted with GDD.

5. Waste receptacles shall be emptied, and towel, soap and toilet rooms shall be provided with plastic liners.

ROOM CLEANING DAILY:

Office areas, file rooms, waiting rooms, conference room and the corridor space shall receive the following daily cleaning:

1. Wastebaskets shall be emptied, and the contents removed to the main area.

2. The full floor area, if hard surfaces, shall be swept daily with a treated dust mop and in addition damp mopped the last workday of the week. Carpeted areas shall be vacuumed daily.

3. Wash basins shall be cleaned and sanitized with GDD.

4. Surfaces such as tables and chairs in the waiting rooms shall be damp wiped with a GDD.

5. FOLLOWING TO BE PERFORMED BY TRIBAL STAFF. Desktops and counters are the responsibility of employees assigned to that area.

Special areas such as laboratory, pharmacy area, screening, clean up, treatment, and exam rooms shall receive the following cleaning daily.

1. FOLLOWING TO BE PERFORMED BY TRIBAL STAFF. Clinical waste shall be picked up for incineration. Tenant will double-bag and identify infectious waste.

2. Hard surface floors shall be swept daily with a treated dust mop or dry vacuumed and damp mopped with a GDD.

3. Carpeted floors shall be vacuumed daily, and spot sanitized with a GDD. Chromium fixtures shall be damp, wiped with a GDD and polished daily. Spot clean walls.

4. FOLLOWING SHALL BE PERFORMED BY CLINIC STAFF. Surfaces such as desks, countertops, scales, etc. shall be the responsibility of the clinic employees working the particular area. Towel and soap dispensers shall be serviced. Lobbies and corridors daily.

Hard Surface floors shall be swept with a treated mop or vacuumed and wet-mopped or scrubbed. Resilient floors shall be damp mopped. Carpeted floors shall be vacuumed, and spot cleaned daily. Mopping shall be done with a GDD. Drinking fountains shall be cleaned and sanitized with a GDD, dried and polished.

OUTSIDE ENTRANCES:

Main entrances and secondary entrances shall be swept daily. Entrance way doors shall be cleaned daily to include glass (both sides), door handles, push bars and kick plates.

Refuse, trash, and garbage from snack bars, shall be collected and removed. Regular waste removal from the premises shall be provided no less than once a week.

THREE TIMES PER WEEK SERVICES:

Storage space

Full floor area of any storage space shall be swept with a treated dust mop.

WEEKLY SERVICES:

Dust windowsills and spot clean windows. Spot clean all walls from ceiling from floor.

TWICE MONTHLY SERVICES:

Toilets (public and private)

The full surface area of wall stall partitions, doors, window frames, and sill shall be damp wiped. Toilet floors shall be stripped, waxed, with non-slip floor wax and buffed.

MONTHLY SERVICES:

Hard surface floors and resilient floors shall be damp-mopped and buffed. All vents shall be cleaned.

QUARTERLY SERVICES (every 90 calendar days)

Floors: Hard Surface and resilient floors shall be stripped, waxed with non-slip wax and buffed. Baseboards shall be cleaned as well as metal door thresholds.

Rooms: Venetian blinds and light fixtures shall be cleaned, and all drapes vacuumed in place.

Carpeting: Carpeted areas shall be spin-cleaned or if more suitable to carpet, a dry extraction method may be used. Spot Cleaning will be done daily with carpet cleaning performed more often if needed for high traffic areas open request for Health Director or Facilities Director.

TWICE A YEAR SERVICE

All window glass, glass defectors, clean and opaque glass on partitions and doors shall be washed. Cleaning shall be spaced from completion to start of next cycle at least 120 days.

ANNUAL SERVICES

Blinds: All blinds shall be washed and, when removed, shall be replaced withing three days. Services to be performed as required.

Entrances: Entrance rugs shall be cleaned and shampooed as needed to provide a good appearance. During inclement weather, entrance lobby and foyer floors shall be damp-mopped to keep clean and dry.

Floors: After alterations are completed by the contractor, floors shall be stripped, sealed and waxed within one week of completion.

Responsible for notifying the designated director for any maintenance needed of any janitorial equipment, including vacuums.

Responsible for ordering supplies via Tribal charge or notify the designated director as appropriate.

Responsible for notifying the designated director of any other maintenance items required outside of the above schedule for the facility.
