POSITION DESCRIPTION
Position Title: Marina Manager
Reports To: Facilities Manager and / or General Manager
Position Summary:
This is a full-time position and responsible and accountable for the daily management, along with the Facilities Manager of the Embarcadero Marina. This includes, but is not limited to, hands on service duties to include the oversight of boats entering the marina and meeting requirements to do so. This position will be required to work mornings, evenings and weekends, as needed, depending on marina activity. Create an environment of providing exceptional guest and owner experience. Identify dock maintenance, dock finger maintenance and enforce marina rules and regulations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Performs all services and marina duties on a regular schedule, including but not limited to boat inspections (registration, insurance, sanitary discharge, vessel operational, slip fit) tying up of boats, crab boat rental program, assisting maintenance as needed and customer service.
- Maintains the reputation of the marina as a clean and welcoming facility.
- Coordinates dock & finger maintenance through Maintenance Manager and Marina Tech.
- Plans and oversees daily opening and closing procedures including daily restroom checks, inventory and cleaning.
- In compliance with OSHA, maintains the safety of all boaters, staff, visitors and equipment. Reports any injuries to the Facilities Manager & General Manager. Complies with all environmental concerns.
- Coordinates required inspections with the Fire/EMS Chief on an annual basis.
- Ensures compliance of up-to-date boat inspections which includes but is not limited to …current registration, insurance, sanitary requirements, boat length vs. slip length, secure moorage and fire extinguisher by every boater. Also keeping records of owner name, address, boat name and telephone and emergency contact numbers.
- Coordinates and develops with the Fire/EMS Chief and Police Chiefs, appropriate Emergency protocol and procedures. Coordinate with Fire/EMS Chief and Police Chief for Emergency Management scenarios and planning. Ensures that all staff is familiar with the plans and the appropriate actions to be taken for various emergencies and is trained on an annual basis.
- Responds to inquiries and resolves marina related complaints.
- Weekly meeting with Facilities Manager and other appropriate parties reviewing marina projects and needs.
- Performs daily dock walks, including ramps, for violations and safety hazards. Documents and reports as needed.
- Manage and maintain sewage pump out station.
- Assist with crab boat rentals as needed and as work load permits.
- Maintain and ensure safe marina facility environment including standards for maintenance and upkeep of marina equipment and sanitation.
- Ensure proper training of dock hands and other related marina personnel.
- Represents the company in a professional and positive manner at all times. Maintain and enhance the company’s image when interacting with owners, guests, associates, and vendors.
- In conjunction with Maint Mgr, create and implement preventative maintenance programs for infrastructure/equipment and comprehensive risk management program.
- Works with the Facilities Manager and General Manager to provide input on policy and operational discussions, yearly budget needs, capital improvements, annual projects and growth, recommendations for changes or development of policies and procedures.
- Utilize office equipment and technology, including faxes, copiers, computers and related property software, including Microsoft Office.
- Responsible for issuing and notifying of marina rules and regulations violations to boat owners and renters on appropriate forms.
- Performs other duties as not specifically listed, to include special projects as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High school graduate or GED Equivalency required.
- Minimum of 2-4 years of Marina experience
- Minimum of 2 years management experience managing others.
- Understands rules and regulations for managing a marina.
- CPR/First Aide Certification
- Reading and writing work-related documents in English

- VALID DRIVER LICENSE and INSURANCE
- EMPLOYMENT IS SUBJECT TO A SATISFACTORY DRUG TESTING
- Ability to swim
- Ability to launch, operate, and retrieve all types of watercraft.
- Ability to work a varying shift that includes mornings, nights, weekends and holidays.
- Accessible to Embarcadero management when not on duty.
- Good verbal communications and interpersonal skills, including the ability to read and understand labels and directions. Ability to work closely with a team.

- Have excellent interpersonal, administrative, telephone and other communications skills.
- Ability to work outdoors withstanding temperature extremes and inclement outdoor weather, and frequent lifting of equipment weighing minimum 40 pounds to waist-high level; ability to climb, stoop and bend 85% of the time; also requires manual dexterity to operate equipment. Bend, lift, carry, and reach/extend arms and hands above shoulder height frequently, or otherwise moves in a constantly changing environment.
- Ability to stand for the entire workday and to climb ramps and steps regularly
- Lifting, carrying, and pushing up to 25 lbs. regularly, 30-35 lbs. frequently, and up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
- Knowledge of boating, boating safety and environmental and occupational health and safety.
- Ability to gain a thorough understanding of safety standards.
- Computer proficiency with the ability to utilize MS Work, Excel and Outlook.
- Must have integrity and be trustworthy.
- Conflict management skills/training/experience helpful
- Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly frequent movements from place to place within the Marina.
- Ability to produce work in a timely manner which is accurate, complete and of high quality.
- Ability to come to work regularly and on time.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
- The employee must have excellent command of the English language.
- Be able to read, analyze, and interpret financial documents related to departments being supported.
- Ability to create professional reports, business correspondence and other documents as needed.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.
- The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; stoop, kneel, or crouch.
