The Hotel General Manager is the captain of the ship, overseeing all aspects of the hotel's operation to ensure its success. This leadership role requires a blend of business acumen, hospitality expertise, and interpersonal skills.

SUMMARY:

  • Leadership and Strategy:
  • Provide vision, direction, and motivation to inspire staff to deliver exceptional guest service.
  • Collaborate with department heads to set goals, develop strategies, and achieve overall hotel objectives.
  • Financial Performance:
  • Develop and implement strategies to maximize revenue, profitability, and cost-efficiency.
  • Create and manage budgets, balancing costs with guest satisfaction and service quality.
  • Monitor financial performance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Sales and Marketing:
  • Lead the hotel's sales and marketing efforts, developing targeted strategies to attract guests.
  • Stay current on industry trends and implement best practices to boost occupancy rates.
  • Foster relationships with travel agents, tour operators, and corporate clients.
  • Guest Service:
  • Ensure the delivery of exceptional guest service that exceeds expectations.
  • Address guest concerns and complaints promptly and professionally.
  • Maintain high standards for guest satisfaction through ongoing quality control measures.
  • Human Resources:
  • Recruit, hire, train, and develop a highly skilled and motivated workforce.
  • Foster a productive work environment with good employee relations and a positive work culture.
  • Ensure compliance with labor laws and regulations.
  • Operations and Maintenance:
  • Oversee the overall maintenance and upkeep of the hotel facilities and equipment.
  • Implement procedures to ensure safety, security, and hygiene standards.
  • Manage guest amenities and ensure their proper functioning.
  • Other Responsibilities:
  • Maintain positive relationships with vendors and other stakeholders.
  • Stay informed of industry trends and developments.
  • Comply with all relevant laws, regulations, and licensing requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Extensive experience in the hotel industry, preferably in a leadership role.
  • Proven track record of success in achieving financial targets and revenue growth.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and inspire staff.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of hospitality operations, sales, and marketing.
  • Proficiency in hotel management, Marriott software and financial systems.
  • A bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management or 5 years in related field is preferred.
  • Hilton/OnQ knowledge is a plus

  • Guest Experience: The GM sets the standards for guest service and ensures every department works together to create a positive and memorable experience for guests. This involves addressing guest concerns, ensuring cleanliness and comfort of the facilities, and keeping a pulse on guest satisfaction.
  • Guest Satisfaction Scores: Metrics like online reviews and guest surveys provide valuable feedback on how well the hotel is meeting expectations.
  • Reputation Management: A General Manager needs to address guest concerns promptly and effectively, minimizing negative feedback and protecting the hotel's reputation.
  • Financial Performance: The GM is accountable for the hotel's financial health. They manage budgets, control costs, and develop strategies to maximize revenue. This involves tasks like revenue management, setting sales targets, and analyzing financial data.
  • Staff Management: The GM leads and motivates the hotel staff. They oversee all departments, from housekeeping and front office to food service and maintenance. This involves recruiting, training, and supervising staff, fostering a positive work environment, and ensuring adherence to safety and security regulations.
  • Revenue Management: A GM is expected to oversee strategies to maximize revenue, like setting room rates and managing occupancy. This includes keeping an eye on industry trends and competitor pricing.
  • Cost Control: Keeping expenses in check is crucial. The GM needs to develop budgets and find ways to optimize operational efficiency.
  • Profitability: Ultimately, the hotel needs to be profitable. The GM is accountable for delivering a healthy financial return on the investment.
  • Team Management: The GM leads a large team across various departments. They need to be effective at motivating staff, fostering a positive work environment, and promoting teamwork.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Standing and walking for long periods: This is a big part of the job. Hotel General Managers are constantly on the move, checking on different areas of the hotel, meeting with staff and guests.
  • Flexible work hours: The hospitality industry never sleeps, and neither does a Hotel General Manager. Expect to work evenings, weekends, and be on call sometimes.

Pay: $90,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
