We are one of the largest commercial electrical contractors in New York City, specializing in outdoor electrical construction and maintenance for government agencies, utilities, and private enterprises. Our headquarters are located in Queens, NY, where we maintain an extensive in-house inventory of materials, tools, and a fleet to provide prompt electrical maintenance services.

Our field force consists of highly qualified, IBEW (International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers) journeymen electricians and linemen, supported by experienced project management, estimating, engineering, accounting, and administrative personnel.

Safety Training Coordinator Job Description

A Safety Training Coordinator is responsible for designing, developing, implementing, and managing safety training programs within our organization, ensuring employees are properly educated on safety procedures and regulations to maintain a safe work environment.

This role involves collaborating with management to identify training needs and address safety concerns, while staying updated on relevant safety standards and compliance requirements.

  • Support the Safety department with data entry, file system maintenance, meeting coordination, calendar management, and other administrative tasks.
  • Maintain records for FMCSA employees.
  • Maintain and Monitor Company Drug Testing Program with 3rd party vendor.
  • Understand and assist with the implementation of the Safety department's systems and policies.
  • Work collaboratively and effectively with Safety department team members, all levels management and staff, as well as outside clients and subcontractors.
  • Maintain a professional, courteous, and helpful demeanor.
  • Ensure compliance with company standards, government regulations, and external compliance measures like OSHA.
  • Assist in Onboarding training.
  • Coordinate Safety Committee meetings and efforts.
  • Enter information as required by EMCOR's internal reporting system.
  • Update and maintain the Incidents Log, managing all incident documents.
  • Support the Director of Safety & Quality Control.
  • Compile Monthly Safety Reviews (MSRs) for monthly reporting.
  • Create summary sheets of each week's Job Site Reviews (JSRs).
  • Upload weekly Project Status Report (PSR).
  • Support the Safety Coordinator in managing Job Hazard Analysis (JHAs) reports.
  • Assist with safety training.
  • Assist with planning safety department events.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, the individual must have:

  • ~3-5 years of experience in a professional safety role working in the Construction Industry.
  • ~ Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college/university in safety management or relevant field is preferred.
  • ~ Proficiency using Microsoft Office programs.
  • ~ Independent self-starter with experience operating independently with little day-to-day supervision.
  • ~ Ability to prioritize and manage competing needs across a decentralized organization.
  • ~ Strong interpersonal, management, communication, writing, and organizational skills.
  • ~ Frequent travel to project field sites required.

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
