Emerald Technologies has an exciting opportunity for a canny Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) Programmer Level 1 to join its Brea, CA team! The AOI Programmer Level 1 performs AOI programming, validation activities, debugging, and provides operator training(s) for inspection operations utilizing 2D AOI equipment. This position is primarily responsible for ensuring products and processes meet established quality standards by identifying shortfalls, developing corrective measures, and implementing quality control systems via AOI, and other processes as required. Responsibilities of the AOI Programmer Level 1:
- Responsible for creating programs for 2D AOI (Automated Optical Inspection) machines.
- Edits, debugs, and optimizes AOI inspection programs as needed for every batch of assemblies.
- Uses precision measuring instruments such as smart tweezers and calipers and pin gauges to determine adherence to electrical and dimensional specifications on first articles, in-process inspections, and production runs.
- Monitors and corrects systemic programming issues and document additional critical criteria.
- Run machine generated reports and data to Test Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality Assurance (QA), and Manufacturing groups for machine inspection programs / results.
- Troubleshoots machine related and process-related issues.
- Trains other Programmers, Machine Support technicians, and Machine Operators on detailed machine instructions updates / changes

- High School Diploma or equivalent. Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience in electronics assembly manufacturing or similar industry.
- Must be a Certified IPC Specialist (CIS).
- Knowledge of Automated Optical Inspection equipment and procedures.
- Must understand how electronic components are oriented and be able to distinguish the different part numbers.
- Ability to interpret Engineering Documentation and work instructions.
- Ability to read blueprints, drawings, specifications and Printed Circuit Board (PCB) Gerbers.
- Skilled in electrically measuring resistors and capacitors.
- Expertise in reading component values by inspecting parts.
