Emerald Technologies has an exciting opportunity for an analytical Manufacturing Engineer to join its Brea, CA team! The Manufacturing Engineer ensures all processes, equipment and supporting systems operate to their maximum effectiveness, within specified safety and cost constraints, and that all products are of the desired quality. Additionally, Manufacturing Engineers provide support to secondary operations teams including Through Hole, Mechanical and Polymeric Operations, and provide technical support to resolve issues during the assembly process.

Responsibilities of the Manufacturing Engineer:
- Provide technical support to secondary operations processes including Through-Hole: selective solder, wave solder, hand solder, Mechanical Assembly: press-fit, swaging, torquing, and de-panel methods, and Polymerics: the application and curing relating to staking, encapsulation, bonding, underfill, potting and conformal coating of Printed Circuit Board Assemblies (PCBA’s).
- Supports the production and engineering departments in resolving problems that arise in the secondary operations assembly processes, as required.
- Works alongside the manufacturing teams to ensure that overall quality, delivery, and cost objectives are achieved.
- Provides technical guidance and act as a liaison to the manufacturing and test engineers while assisting supervisors on new techniques to determine the cause of rejected products.
- Provides redlines and/or updates to Manufacturing Work Instructions on the shop floor or in Aegis.
- Specifies all necessary special processes, equipment, and fixtures required for manufacturing assigned programs as needed for production and process improvement purposes.
- Assists in tool design when required to help support manufacturing by developing tooling concepts.
- Monitors quality discrepancies, identifies trends, and investigates problems and implements corrective actions.

- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
- 3 years of experience manufacturing PCBAs, mechanical assemblies, cables and sub-assemblies in contract manufacturing or similar environment.
- Experience working in the Military & Aerospace manufacturing industries.
- Understand 6S and Lean Manufacturing experience is preferred.
- Working knowledge of IPC-A-610, J-STD-001 and J-STD-001S; IPC-A-610, J-STD-001 and J-STD-001Scertifications preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret assembly drawings and customer or manufacturing specifications and develop documents, instructions, operation manuals, safety rules, etc.
- Understanding of 6S and Lean Manufacturing experience is preferred.
