The Senior Director of Marketing will be an integral member of our leadership team, directly reporting to the Senior Vice President, Marketing. This role is responsible for overseeing all aspects of marketing for our event portfolio, including driving attendee and exhibitor revenue while leading comprehensive marketing functions. You will play a crucial role in shaping and executing our go-to-market strategy, managing teams across Audience Marketing, Sales Marketing, Demand Generation, and Performance Marketing.
In this position, you will craft and implement innovative marketing strategies aimed at driving significant growth in attendee engagement, conference participation, and overall sales revenue. You thrive in a fast-paced, strategic environment and possess a unique combination of strategic insight and hands-on execution, coupled with strong business acumen and visionary thinking. You will partner closely with the SVP, Marketing to define and achieve the financial and organizational goals for MJBiz.
Key objectives for this role include enhancing audience engagement, driving audience growth and conversion, generating sales demand and leads, and developing marketing strategies that contribute to increased revenue from events, print, and digital channels.
The ideal candidate will have marketing leadership experience, adept at formulating and implementing marketing, sales, and audience development strategies, while evaluating outcomes within a multi-channel marketing framework.
Key Responsibilities
• Strategic Development: Create and implement a data-driven marketing strategy that focuses on audience and advertiser growth, leveraging digital marketing tactics, SEO, social media, email campaigns, and more.
• Sales and Exhibitor Marketing: Oversee the planning and execution of sales and exhibitor marketing initiatives, ensuring alignment with overall business objectives and adapting strategies in response to market trends and customer needs.
• Campaign Management: Define, set up, execute, and track marketing campaigns for events and new products, utilizing HubSpot, Salesforce and other marketing tools to analyze performance and refine strategies based on insights.
• Content Oversight: Direct the content strategy for the portfolio, including branded content and educational sessions, while managing the editorial team to ensure high-quality deliverables.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Sales, Operations, and other key departments to develop new product offerings, nurture leads, and establish a repository of sales leads aimed at conversion.
• Performance Monitoring: Monitor campaign performance and key metrics, providing actionable insights and recommendations to optimize marketing efforts and achieve financial goals.
• Team Leadership: Manage and mentor a diverse team of marketing professionals, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment while ensuring effective execution of marketing strategies.
• Budget Management: Build, manage, and allocate revenue and expense budgets across all projects, ensuring alignment with organizational financial goals.
• Market Analysis: Stay abreast of industry trends and competitor activities to inform strategic decisions and enhance the marketing approach.
Qualifications:
• 8 years of experience in marketing, with a proven track record in strategic multi-channel marketing initiatives, preferably in technology-related industries or event marketing.
• Strong understanding of digital marketing tools and analytics platforms (e.g., Salesforce Marketing Cloud, HubSpot, Pardot).
• Demonstrated success in leading teams and executing complex marketing strategies across multiple products.
• Exceptional project management, writing, and communication skills, with the ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
• Creative mindset with a history of developing innovative marketing solutions and campaigns.
• Strong financial acumen with experience in budget management and revenue optimization.
• Willingness to travel as needed (approximately 20%).

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
Target Compensation: $120,000-140,000 (bonus eligible)
