As part of the EmergeOrtho-Triangle Region Sports Medicine Team, the Outreach Athletic Trainer provides professional patient care, under physician supervision, to local high schools and other community partners. This includes:

EDUCATIONAL & LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS:
- Degree in Athletic Training (AT) from an accredited AT education program required
- NC Licensed Athletic Trainer, or eligible
- National Athletic Training Association (BOC) certification
- BLS certification required
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Comfortable using email and interacting with Internet and Mobile applications.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Position will primarily include Sports Medicine and Athletic Training coverage for local high schools and other community sporting events.
- Responsible for daily practice and game coverage including management of on-field injuries, organization and administration, and record keeping.
- On-site recognition, evaluation, and immediate care procedures of illness and injury including emergency situations.
- Serve as a liaison between coaches, parents, AD, MD, and other health care providers responsible for treatment of injured athlete.
- Document and report all injuries referrals to the Sports Medicine Coordinator
- Appropriately triage injuries requiring an office or urgent care visit
- Administers proper athletic training techniques prior to games and practices to decrease risk of injury.
- Assists the physician and coach in determining when an injured athlete can safely return to participation and competition.
- Apply braces splints, or assistive devices and administer therapeutic modalities in accordance with standard techniques and procedures in order to facilitate recovery, function, and/or performance.
- Establishes and maintains medical files for each student involved in interscholastic athletics including injury, treatment and rehabilitation. Potential clinic responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, typical PT Tech job duties or assisting in orthopedic clinics as necessary.

- Participates in professional development activities and maintains professional affiliations.
- Maintains patient confidentiality; complies with HIPAA privacy and confidentiality guidelines.
- Maintains detailed knowledge of practice management and other computer software as it relates to job functions.
- Attends all regular meetings as requested, with proper notice
- Performs all other tasks and projects assigned by the Sports Med Coordinator, manager, or physicians.
- Maintains compliance with continuing educational requirements to maintain current certifications and licensure.
