The primary objective of this position is to assure the delivery of comprehensive, safe, effective, cost effective and appropriate nursing care for patients across the age continuum (4 weeks-geriatric) in accordance with established surgery center’s policy, nursing practice standards. Under minimal supervision, directs and/or provides professional nursing care for an assigned group of patients across the age continuum. Utilizes the nursing process for assessment, planning and implementation and evaluation to direct or provide nursing care. Provides supervision and guidance to other members of the team; and may be authorized, in the absence of the manager, to make decisions affecting the PAT, Pre-Operative, PACU, and Pain Management areas.
Qualifications and Experience
- Graduate of an NLN accredited school of professional nursing required.
- Current licensure in the State of North Carolina required.
- Must be able to achieve CPR certification within 90 days of employment; ACLS, and PALS within 6 months of employment.
- Previous PACU, ambulatory care, critical care or surgical nursing is preferred.
- A minimum of 1 year nursing experience is preferred.
- Ability to be flexible and take on new responsibilities.
Primary Job Duties
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Able to work independently and meet established deadlines.
- Provides effective patient care for the pediatric, adult and geriatric patients in PAT, PACU, Pre-Operative, and Pain Management units, as assigned.
- Ensures timely, accurate assessments are performed on each patient he/she provides care for.
- Appropriately plans for each day's assignment.
- Participates in problem analysis and resolution, and decision making for their assigned units.
- Participates in unit/surgery center’s performance improvement activities to improve the quality of care provided at Triangle Orthopedic Surgery Center, LLC.
- With management, sets goals for enhancement of his/her professional and/or organizational skills.
- Acts as charge nurse as assigned.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
