Overview
Established Akron Intellectual Property law firm seeks a full-time legal Administrative Assistant to join its growing firm. Candidate should have a minimum of 5 years’ experience working in intellectual property and patent prosecution. The Intellectual Property Administrative Assistant provides comprehensive administrative support to attorneys and patent agents in all aspects of patent and trademark prosecution. This role requires a high level of attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work independently. Client confidentiality and the highest level of professionalism is a must.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare and electronically file patent and trademark applications and related documents with the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
- Manage and maintain patent and trademark prosecution dockets, ensuring deadlines are met.
- Communicate with clients, attorneys, and patent agents regarding patent and trademark matters.
- Prepare correspondence, reports, and other documents related to patent and trademark prosecution and maintenance.
- Maintain and organize patent and trademark electronic files.
- Assist with patent and trademark-related research and information gathering.
- Process invoices and expense reports related to patent and trademark prosecution.
- Time entry for attorneys.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; associate or bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Five years of experience as an administrative assistant in an intellectual property environment.
- Knowledge of patent prosecution procedures and USPTO rules.
- Knowledge of trademark prosecution procedures and USPTO rules.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Experience with patent docketing software and electronic filing systems.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with PCT filings preferred
- Experience with Anaqua docketing system
- Experience with Tabs3
- Ability to handle multiple, competing deadlines and priorities effectively
- Familiarity with foreign patent prosecution procedures.
- Knowledge of intellectual property law.
Working Conditions:
- This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday.
- This is a hybrid position. Remote work will be considered based on experience and qualifications.
