The Emery County School District has the following position open:
Cottonwood Elementary
5.9 hr/day Special Education Aide- 175 school days
Summary:
A special education paraprofessional, under general supervision, provides assistance to a classroom teacher, performing a variety of tasks relating to the physical and instructional needs of students in a classroom setting; assists in the emplementation of instructional programs, including self-help and personal care as well as instruction. The special education paraprofessional performs related duties as required or assigned.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Carries to completion in a timely manner, instructional and supportive activities as assigned by the supervising teacher
- Work with special education students may include lifting, feeding and other services.

- Basic academic skills;
- Ability to perform several tasks concurrently under varying deadlines;
- Abliity to exercise tact, good judgment, and initiative in dealing with students, faculty, and the public;
- Skills in operating computers and software;
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing;
- Strong organizational skills;
- Able to identify sensitive information and maintain confidentiality;
Additional Qualifications of a Title I School:
Title I schools require highly qualified status to work as a parprofessional. To be highly qualified, you must have a two-year Associate's Degree, or 48 Credit Hours, or a Utah Teaching Certificate, or pass the ETS Paraeducator (Parapro) test.
