Quality Assurance Coordinator - Automotive Plastic Injection Molding Plant
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and team-oriented Quality Assurance Coordinator at our automotive plastic injection molding facility. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with IATF 16949 and ISO 14001 standards, ensure successful Level 3 PPAP submissions, and work closely with manufacturing and sales teams to maintain high-quality standards. This role requires a collaborative, proactive team member who can help drive company initiatives in continuous improvement to enhance customer satisfaction and support production and quality team members to achieve operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Quality Management System (QMS): Ensure compliance with IATF 16949 and ISO 14001 standards, maintaining certifications and leading audits.
- Internal & External Audits: Plan and conduct internal audits, facilitate customer and third-party audits, and ensure that corrective actions are effectively implemented.
- Data-Driven Decision-Making: Analyze quality performance metrics, scorecards, and defect trends, working with the manufacturing team to implement process improvements.
- Quality Inspector Oversight: Oversee and support plant quality inspectors, ensure adequate training is provided and adherence to quality standards and best practices on the production floor.
- Team Collaboration: Act as a team player, working closely with manufacturing, sales, engineering, and production teams to improve processes, resolve quality issues, and enhance overall efficiency.
- Customer Quality Support: Support Sales in working with customers on addressing quality concerns, conducting root cause analysis, and implementing corrective actions.
- Customer Quality Scorecards: Monitor and analyze customer quality scorecards, identifying trends and implementing proactive solutions to improve PPM (parts per million), defect rates, and on-time delivery metrics.
- PPAP Submissions: Lead and oversee the submission of Level 3 PPAPs (Production Part Approval Process) to customers, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timely approval.
- Root Cause & Corrective Actions: Lead 8D problem-solving processes, using tools like 5-Why and Fishbone analysis to resolve internal and customer-reported defects.
- Supplier Quality Management: Support purchasing in working with suppliers to maintain quality standards, address non-conformances, and ensure seamless supply chain operations.
- Continuous Improvement: Drive lean manufacturing and process improvement initiatives to enhance production efficiency and reduce scrap/rework.
- Training & Development: Provide training to plant quality inspectors and production personnel on quality procedures, defect detection, and problem-solving techniques.
Qualifications & Skills:
- 5 years of experience in maintain a quality management system within an automotive plastic injection molding environment.
- Strong knowledge of IATF 16949 and ISO 14001; experience leading audits and maintaining compliance.
- Proven ability to work cross-functionally with manufacturing, sales, engineering, and production teams to achieve quality and operational goals.
- Experience handling customer quality scorecards and driving improvements based on performance metrics.
- Strong expertise in PPAP (all levels), APQP, FMEA, SPC, and Control Plans.
- Excellent problem-solving skills using 8D, 5-Why, and root cause analysis methodologies.
- Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with team members, customers, and suppliers to resolve quality concerns.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office software.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Work Environment:
- Manufacturing plant setting with a mix of office and production floor work.
- May require occasional travel to suppliers and customers.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 – 45 per week
