What are the responsibilities and job description for the Analyst, Transformation Office position at Emery Oleochemicals LLC?

1. JOB PURPOSE

Partner with the Head of Transformation to sustainably deliver the strategic and profit growth aspirations for the Emery Group under the transformation program initiated by the Company’s shareholders. 

2. JOB’S IMPACTS AND ACCOUNTABILITY

The Analyst is key part of Emery Group’s Transformation Office (“TO”) and will be accountable for the achievement of the Value Creation targets for the workstreams under his / her purview. He / she will also need to consistently drive and monitor the implementation progress (L4) and PATAMI delivery (L5) targets alongside workstream partners.

Note: PATAMI = Profit After Tax and Minority Interests.

3. JOB’S CONTENTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The TO team supports the business primarily in the following:

  1. Transformation Bottom-Up Planning (BUP) and Implementation: Designing and implementing transformation programs for Emery Group’s business units using Value Creation initiatives as building blocks. 
  2. Project Management Office (PMO) cadence and discipline: Developing capabilities and creating behaviors to enable delivery of long-term sustainable value creation for Emery Group.

The roles of a Transformation Analyst will cover the following:

  1. Support workstream and project teams to develop bankable Value Creation initiatives (L0-3):
    • Conduct diagnostic analyses of business value chains and processes to identify potential gaps to desired transformation targets / industry best practices;
    • Run idea generation workshops to identify value creation initiatives that will unlock the identified potential;
    • Assist project teams to develop the business case for initiatives, which includes building financial models to evaluate cost-benefit trade-offs;
    • Work closely with other internal functions in developing and validating business cases (e.g. Finance, Commercial & Sales, Operations, Engineering, etc.) 
  2. Support project teams in initiative implementation (L4-5):
    • Consistently monitor and track completion of project milestones per plan;
    • Provide targeted assistance in certain implementation areas to workstreams and project teams (e.g. performing commercial market analyses, developing end-user tools / templates, coordinating cross-functional implementation actions, etc.); 
    • Offer problem solving assistance on any issues that may pose delivery risks to the L4-5 initiatives;
    • Coach initiative owners to utilize the online program management system (WAVE) to track and monitor initiative progress;
    • Work closely with other internal functions to implement initiatives and track cash-in-bank (e.g. Finance, Commercial & Sales, Operations, Engineering, etc.)
  3. Support workstream leads and team member to maintain the health and maturity of their Value Creation pipelines:
    • Work closely with the workstream leads and their teams to effectively manage their value creation initiative portfolios;
    • Conduct site-level TO cadence meetings to periodically discuss progress vs. targets and debottleneck any issues;
    • Provide analytical support to line managers in the development and delivery of plans for the Transformation project streams (i.e. Performance Improvement Areas or Key Enablers)
    • Coach nominated on-site champions / leaders in transformation disciplines and establish processes that will enable each champions / leaders to be self-sufficient in sustaining the momentum for change; 
    • Act as role model and deliver the transformation culture at site- levels within the Emery Group;
    • Report on Value Creation progress periodically to Emery’s Leadership (e.g. Senior Management, Transformation Steering Committee, Board’s ExCom, Board of Directors)

4. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

Education / Professional Qualification

  • A Bachelor’s degree preferably in a numerical and / or technical discipline (e.g. Engineering, Information Technology, Digital, Finance, Economics, Mathematics)
  • Post-graduate degrees such as a MBA, Masters in Engineering, Masters in Technology will be an advantage.
  • Relevant professional qualifications will be viewed favorably.

Professional Experience 

  • At least 5 years of working experience.
  • Prior work experience in any of these related disciplines would be an advantage – management consulting, corporate planning, financial analysis, project management, change management, transformation.
  • Highly proficient with MS Office products, particularly Excel and Power Point. 
  • Proficient in any programming language (including Excel Macros), data visualization tools (e.g. Power BI, Tableau), or statistical analysis tools. 
  • International experience will be an added bonus.
  • Demonstrations of maturity and leadership capabilities are required.
  • A team player, proactive, result-oriented and innovative.
  • A self-starter who is able to work independently to meet tight deadlines.
  • Possess good interpersonal communication skills.
