What are the responsibilities and job description for the Civil CAD Technician position at Emery Sapp & Sons?
Responsibilities:
- Provides assistance to engineers/designers/surveyors using CAD software operations to create plans and perform design work
- A major component of this position is to produce production sheets by adding dimension/layout plans and title/detail sheets
- Assist with 2D and 3D modeling and plan production; develop 3D models utilizing drawings, sketches, and design skills
- Assist in the review of designs for consistency, safety, operability, and maintenance requirements
- Assist in development of initial design concepts
- Communicate effectively with project team members and clients
- Work with internal staff to coordinate design and constructability solutions
Qualifications:
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- 1-3 years CAD experience
- Experience with Trimble Business Center (TBC) is preferred, however candidates with a strong CAD background will be considered and training will be provided.
- Associates degree in Engineering, Drafting Technology, or similar field, or equivalent experience, preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering plans and documents
- Ability to understand drafting standards, and design documentation
- Experience examining and checking engineering drawings for compliance with cited specifications
- Ability to draft and clearly communicate RFI’s (Request for information) and Proposals to Project Managers and Engineers
