ob Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Forklift Operator to join our manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will have experience operating various types of forklifts to move, load, and unload raw materials, components, and finished goods throughout the production facility. The role requires attention to detail, adherence to safety protocols, and the ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate forklifts (sit-down, stand-up, clamp, reach truck, pallet jack) to transport materials across the manufacturing floor and warehouse.
- Load and unload materials from trucks, trailers, and production lines.
- Supply production areas with necessary materials and remove finished goods for storage or shipping.
- Maintain accurate inventory records through scanners, log sheets, or ERP systems.
- Inspect forklift equipment daily and report any mechanical issues to maintenance.
- Ensure materials are stored safely and organized according to company standards.
- Follow OSHA and company safety regulations, including use of proper PPE.
- Assist with cycle counts and inventory audits as needed.
- Work closely with shipping, receiving, and production teams to ensure smooth operations.
- Keep work areas clean and organized to promote efficiency and safety.
- Perform general warehouse or production duties during downtime or as needed.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proven experience as a forklift operator in a manufacturing or warehouse environment.
- Valid forklift certification or ability to obtain one prior to employment.
- Knowledge of warehouse data systems and RF scanners preferred.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand/walk for long periods.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
- Ability to work in hot, cold, or noisy environments depending on the season and department.
- Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with different types of forklifts (e.g., sit-down, stand-up reach, cherry picker).
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing practices or 5S systems.
- Prior experience with material handling for production lines.
