As we prepare for our next phase, including the anticipated launch of Fund II, we are seeking a motivated and skilled Private Equity Associate to join our team on a part-time, hourly basis in Charlotte, NC. This role has the potential to transition into a full-time position based on performance and business needs.
Position Overview: The Private Equity Associate will play a crucial role in supporting the investment team through comprehensive financial analysis, LBO modeling, and industry research. This position offers a unique opportunity to gain valuable experience in private equity while contributing to the strategic growth of Emko Capital’s portfolio.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Analysis & Modeling:
- Develop and maintain complex financial models, including leveraged buyout (LBO) models, to assess investment opportunities and support due diligence.
- Perform valuation analyses using various methodologies, including discounted cash flow (DCF), comparable company analysis, and precedent transactions.
- Analyze historical financial statements and projections to evaluate the financial health and performance of potential and existing portfolio companies.
Due Diligence:
- Assist in the due diligence process by gathering and analyzing financial data, conducting industry research, and preparing detailed reports and presentations.
- Collaborate with external advisors and consultants to gather insights and validate key assumptions.
Industry Research:
- Conduct in-depth research on industrial sectors, market trends, and competitive landscapes to identify investment opportunities and assess potential risks.
- Stay updated on industry developments and regulatory changes that may impact investment decisions.
Investment Team Support:
- Prepare investment committee materials, including presentations and investment memos, to facilitate informed decision-making.
- Assist with monitoring and managing existing portfolio companies, including tracking performance metrics and identifying value creation opportunities.
Project Management:
- Manage and prioritize multiple tasks and projects, ensuring timely completion of deliverables.
- Work closely with senior associates and partners to support various initiatives and projects as needed.
Qualifications:
Experience: Minimum of 2 years of investment banking or private equity experience required. Experience in the industrials sector is a plus.
Skills:
- Proficiency in financial modeling and valuation techniques, including LBO modeling.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with the ability to interpret and synthesize complex financial data.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present findings clearly and concisely.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and financial databases (e.g., Bloomberg, Capital IQ).
