Job Purpose Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and professional Cook to prepare and serve nutritious meals for up to 300 children in accordance with the Child & Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) Guidelines. The ideal candidate will be passionate about providing healthy, appealing meals and ensuring a safe, clean, and organized kitchen environment. This role is crucial in supporting the well-being and development of young children through balanced nutrition.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
- Prepare and serve nutritious breakfast, lunch, and snacks for 300 children, adhering to the Child & Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) and Missouri Department of Health & Senior Services guidelines.
- Ensure all food preparation, handling, and storage meet safety and sanitation standards.
- Maintain a clean and sanitary kitchen, pantry, and all food preparation areas.
- Follow safety protocols in all food service operations, ensuring the highest standards of food safety.
- Wash, rinse, and sanitize dishes, cooking equipment, and utensils.
- Deliver meals and snacks to classrooms and ensure family-style meal service.
- Clean and sanitize classroom dishes and return them to the appropriate classroom after each meal.
- Support the efficient operation of the kitchen, pantry, and related areas, ensuring all supplies are stocked and accessible.
- Participate in the maintenance of food inventory, order supplies, and pick up food from vendors as needed.
- Ensure the kitchen, freezer, and pantry areas are properly cleaned and organized on a regular basis.
- Collaborate with the Executive Director and staff to implement cost-effective measures while maintaining meal quality.
- Prepare and plan weekly menus that meet federal and state nutritional standards.
- Maintain required forms and records in compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Report equipment maintenance needs to the Director.
- Demonstrate excellent time management skills, ensuring meals are served promptly and in an attractive manner.
- Attend relevant workshops, training, or courses to stay current on best practices in food service and child nutrition.
