What are the responsibilities and job description for the Navigation Point Classroom Facilitator position at EMMETT INDEPENDENT DIST?
Navigation Point Classroom Facilitator will work directly with students assigned to the program. They will support and be a liaison between the home school teacher and the student in supporting the students while in attendance at Navigation Point.
JOB TITLE: Navigation Point Classroom Facilitator
REPORT TO: Federal Program Director
SUMMARY: The Navigation Point Classroom Facilitator works with students from grades 6-12 in an alternative interim disciplinary setting where they can receive academic support and complete disciplinary hearing expectations until they can return to their assigned school.
Minimum Qualifications:
Two years of college-level coursework or an Associate’s Degree in education or a related field preferred
Previous aide or teaching experience preferred
Knowledge of child growth and development and appropriate classroom practices
Demonstrated ability to assist with instructional activities
Knowledge of subject matters and ability to instruct students at the direction of the teacher
Knowledgeable in word processing, databases, spreadsheets, and reports
Ability to maintain a positive learning environment
Works well with students, staff, and the public
Excellent organizational skills
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Able to work under pressure and deadlines
Maintain confidentiality of staff and students
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Working with Students
Maintain high academic standards and expectations
Provide tutorial help to students following lessons prescribed by the teacher and reinforce material and skills using a variety of methods as directed by certified staff
Provide immediate feedback on student performance to students and to the supervising teacher
Respond to students’ questions and requests for assistance
Observe students’ work and study habits
Observe and record students’ time on task when needed
Assist students in locating prescribed instructional materials and starting their assignments
Assist the classroom teacher in the delivery of an effective instructional program
Work with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning of material and skills introduced by the teacher
Help students master equipment or instructional materials assigned by the teacher
Provide individualized instruction activities using materials and sequences selected by the supervising teacher
Identify pupil needs and provide instruction appropriate to those needs
Follow modifications and accommodations as specified in Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
Assist with such large group activities as drill and practice, reading aloud, and storytelling, and participate in other forms of oral communication with students
Guide independent study, enrichment work, and remedial work assigned by the teacher
Check notebooks, correct papers, and supervise testing and makeup work as assigned by the teacher
Assist with the supervision of students during emergency drills, assemblies, play periods, and field trips
Administer, score, and record such achievement and diagnostic tests as the teacher recommends for individual students
Encourage students to strive to meet their highest potential
Communicate classroom rules and encourage students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior

All non-certificated staff not under contract are under “at will employment”. Their positions shall be considered in all respects “employment at will” and the employee is subject to discharge by the district at any time without cause. The “employment period” and other descriptions and terms set forth in their job descriptions shall not create a property right in the employee and such are set forth only to advise the employee of when and what type of services will be required by the district so long as employment continues.
The employment period shall be for nine (9) months, with vacations as specified by district rules and regulations. The salary shall be determined by the Superintendent and approved by the Board of Trustees.
Salary : $14 - $15
